Password doesn't work (Yes I already reset it)
Hey y'all!
Marking as bug because as far as I can tell I am doing everything right, although error on my part is of course possible.
Recently, my password stopped working. "sorry, wrong password". I can't tell you when exactly since I have autologin enabled. Both in the KDE kwallet dialog boxes, as well as on the command line for
sudo
. (Another weird thing: sometimes ujust update
prompts me for a password, sometimes it doesn't, what gives?)
I was pretty sure I haven't changed it, but I decided to follow the guide: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/Reset_Forgotten_User_Password/
So I went and reset it, and... it still doesn't work. I am losing my mind over here haha.
disclaimers:
- I know I typed it right, passwd
had me type it twice
- I haven't set my keyboard to a weird language or anything, I've typed it in a regular terminal window and it's correct
- Yes I reset the password for the same user that sudo
is prompting me for (in my case marty
)
has anybody seen something like this before? Is it something to do with autologin or the switch to desktop mode?
super grateful for any help and big ups to the UB team for all their amazing distro (no password issues on my aurora-dx work machine haha)
system info:
This is on a regular 64bit desktop machine (amd cpu & gpu).1 Reply
I went ahead and did another password reset to ensure that I'm not just crazy. It definitely is not working 😭
Okay after a few more reboots (normal operation), suddenly it works again. I am still losing my mind. However I doubt you guys will be able to help me if I can't even reliably reproduce my issue lol. I will close this (or mark as solved).
