Help with denim jacket sizing
Just picked up a Levi denim trucker in medium and large and having difficulty figuring out which one fits right.
The first two pics are from the large - I have to cuff the sleeves so they aren’t too long (2nd pic shows the length). I feel like this fits better in the stomach but looks a bit big in the arms and shoulders.
The medium is tighter fitting and probably my actual correct size if I were to lose some pounds. It’s tight in my elbows when bending my arms, and doesn’t fit as well in the stomach. Not sure if these jackets stretch out? If I tried to layer with a hoodie or sweater it would probably get pretty tight. If the jacket were to shrink at all, it would probably get too small.
For what it’s worth this is replacing a 10 year old Levi denim trucker in medium that has gotten too small. The new medium one feels bigger than that one.
What do you think? Thanks!

i never buy stuff with the idea ill fit into it if i lose weight. but, that aside, if the sleeves are uncomfortable on the medium, definitely go large
levis sleeve sizing can go to hell tho
so its not just you wrt the large sleeves being off*. that being said, i dont think it looks that bad uncuffed
i implanted a memory in my head - i actually find their stuff usually too short in the arm
I think the medium looks way way better. The sleeves will probably loosen up a bit with wear and stop feeling tight as the denim conforms to your body. The hem of the large is too long on you and dips below your waist, whereas the medium sits just above your hips and gives you a more flattering lengthened silhouette
i agree a cropped look is the goal, but imo not easy to do with modern levis
Fwiw here’s the medium with a crewneck sweater under
can you comfortably button the medium?
Medium buttoned with a sweater underneath. Quite tight and would probably never do this
Unless it stretches at all
not enough to make it look not too small. tbh I'd keep looking, there's no shortage of denim jackets out there and no real reason to settle
Frustrating!
I agree, if you aren't married to the Levi's jacket @jeffyg then I'd keep looking for one that has a better cut without being too tight. That said, if you know you have no intention of ever wearing your jacket buttoned up, I think the medium looks really nice on you, it just isn't going to have that one piece of functionality.
It was on sale for like 40 bucks so If I get some wear out of it and ends up being too small not the end of the world I suppose
Respectfully i don't agree that the medium looks good, but follow your heart.
Controversy haha
Just for the hell of it. Large with a sweater underneath.
Much better
way better lol
Large looks good
Feels better. Although now if I switch to just wearing a t underneath it, could end up looking big
Nah oversized is the play rn
I’d err on side of a lil big vs a lil small in general
Having flexibility to layer is always gonna be better and keep it in play more
it may also shrink in the wash
You can have it as a big chonkin oversized jacket with a tee or an extra layer for a fall day over a sweater or something
Guess my opinion is outvoted lol. I tend to prefer a cropped look on a denim jacket, but the most important thing is that you feel comfortable and like how it looks!
I also prefer a cropped look but not enough to sacrifice it looking bad everywhere else
That and comfort and flexibility
Boxy, cropped denim jackets are better made by brands other than levis imo anyway and such a jacket would be probably intentionally built so. Whereas a Levis trucker I imagine is made to fit more like a regular jacket.
I bet if I washed and dried the large it could shrink to be just right. If the medium accidentally ended up in the wash it might be game over.
That is a very good point!
If you want a more relaxed fitting denim jacket I would look at a type I instead of a type III. I have Levi's selvedge type I from their premium line and I think that would suit you better.
Thanks for all the help everyone. You’ve given me a lot to think about haha
me too, but this jacket is not cut for a cropped silhouette.
These denim jackets are not cut to be cropped.
I don't really recommend trying to shrink something to fit. You can't predict how it will shrink. The large looks like it fits you comfortably. I'd just buy that size.
Definitely don't get a jacket that is tight in the elbows when bending your arms. Recipe for disaster.
