allylic substitution Cl2 with UV light breaks into 2 Cl radicals now for the Cl radical to go onto the ring, it has to kick a hydrogen out homolytically, making a hydrogen radical and making the ring itself a radical where would the ring be most stable in radical form? top and bottom positions, because the radical would be under resonance there
