Call for Beta Testing Global Pools
Hey everyone. I'm looking for some beta testers. We have a fairly large change going out soon, that will pretty dramatically improve performance for Hyperdrives with wide geographic distributions of their users.
If you're interested, please respond in the thread I'm about to create indicating your interest, and which Hyperdrive IDs you'd like me to enroll in this beta test. I expect that we'll get this rolling early next week.

Yep, I'll respond to this thread once I have everyone enrolled.
Hey everyone. All Hyperdrives in currently this thread have been enrolled. Please let me know how it goes. Any and all improvements or issues would be good to know about.

Anything we should be on the lookout for? 🙂
Differences in query latency (we expect lower), differences in number of connections taken to origin (we expect fewer), any logged errors you weren't seeing before.

@Sameer Ali just went and checked and I didn't find a config with that ID, so I'm afraid yours isn't enrolled yet. Did you have another ID you wanted my to try with?

Is the test over?
Yes, in the sense that this feature is now automatically applied to all newly created Hyperdrives.
We're looking to start backfilling it to existing ones this week

Yes, Hyperdrive is a connection pooler. It will hold open a pool of connections to your origin, only starting new ones if needed to service more traffic or if there's a restart or the connections are severed.
They are held idle for 15 minutes before being allowed to close down
This change will make starting new ones much, much faster for most of our users.
