Gog Steam Shortcut does not workWhen in Steam Gaming Mode
When I am in Big Picture, the steam shortcut Lutris made for the GOG version of Just Cause 2: Complete Edition does not work. But when in desktop mode it does, how can I fix?

Did you set a Proton version in Steam for the shortcut?
Lutris should have already done this?
Or do I need to set that? 🤔

Ending up reinstalling the OS last night when I had this issue.. how would I launch the offline installer? When I did install it, I used the built in gog integration in Lutris.
But I believe the launch option was something about booting into Lutris and the game Id was 2.

I use Heroic for GOG
so you could launch the offline installer via Lutris manually
but I don't find the need in doing so

Using the GOG integration for Lutris, i installed the game, in desktop mode, the steam shortcut boots the game, when I boot back to gaming mode, the shortcut tries to load, but fails and exits.
describe the failure some more. you click play, does it ever show the spinning steam logo? does it stay there forever?
what runner are you using in Lutris?
It stayed on the steam spining logo for a minute, then it went back to the steam game launcher screen.
I believe it was wine? Or Proton, whatever the default is in Lutris if you don’t mess with anything.

Wine-GE 8-26 is pretty out of date, but the fact that it's downloading here implies that you are not using that for your other installation

set the directory location in the wine prefix settings
Given that you used the offline installer, I suggest taking the folder for your game with everything before

in game mode, if you have an improperly set prefix folder, games won't launch
in desktop mode, it'll do a temp one for you

i can't wait for umu to mature and a more focused launcher exists
at this point, don't even use the scripts

create a new folder somewhere in home for the prefix
try different wine versions (that isnt system wine) in lutris

for Heroic I am downloading the lastest wine-ge and proton-ge
heroic also has a bug where you might have to switch proton builds

just need GE-Proton for most things (enable UMU in Settings, Advanced)
Wine-GE is out of date now
