Assistance with Optimization
I recently have been working on self hosting a Minecraft server for my frinds and I, less than 10 people regularly but despite the server having an Ryzen 3900x, 64 GB DDR4 RAM and 1 TB NVME the people on the server frequently experience issues with lag and disconnecting. The server is based in the US, its running paper on 1.21.4 and a variety of different plugins but id think itd be good enough to handle what I on it without issue.

What kind of lag? Ping or TPS? Also can you provide the error when a player get disconnected?

ticks per second, by default it is 20

I've had them up their ram and that works for a few but they'll still crash every 10 -30 minutes on a bad day
In that case run spark with
/spark profiler start when the server is lagging, wait for 5-10 mins and issue /spark profiler stop you will get a link with a report about server`s lagsThe bad thing is I don't experience the lag on my end I'm not sure if it's just because I'm op or what
They'll say "wow the server is really lagging" but I'll be on the server and I'll be able to do things just fine
If someone experiences lag and you don't then its more likely ping
Hmm alright. It's a bit strange that they'd have ping issues that would cause noticable lag the server is based out of MO
Send the entire error through logs
not just the message
log from the client where this error has occurred
