it just looping but not see the steam.

try run steam.sh?Solution:Jump to solution
yeah so you need to either change to an amd gpu, or upgrade your system to a newer motherboard and cpu

I try the vm version it working normally
vm version is literally the same as the desktop iso (saying no to gaming mode)
but glad it works for you now
I have still no idea outside of the VM the steam just won’t run.
well i dont know what causes the issue for you as
ujust fix-reset-steam
effectively uninstalls steam and redownloads it (without removing games and userdata)there's also the nuclear option is to completely delete everything (including games and userdata) from
~/.local/share/Steam
and also ~/.steam
but before that, I'd run steam
in a terminal
to see what shakes outbut the steam seen already run on the back
I don't understand the issue then
you're saying it's running in the background?
yep
no screen no kde icon
can you kill the steam process and run
bazzite-steam
again? what you're showing is that something is occupying the processit run like before
but nothing show up
but btw
is this the complete log?
no it still looping
are you doing any sort of symlinking in the Steam folder?
i don't think I even know how to do that
but btw the flathub ver just work but can't play my VR games....Maybe I just take that..
have you restarted your PC?
no
do that
not work
but the flathub ver work still...
well, you're not going to make things worse now. kill all Steam processes, then delete
~/.local/share/Steam
and ~/.steam
then?
bazzite-steam
and praypraying
and it fail...
show the complete log please
how do I output a log that many
btw
Thank you a lot, I guess is some hardware issue like "Arc b 580 GPU". I use flatpak version atm utill maybe steam will fix it.
I really thank you help.
I will try other package version of steam of other next day
maybe it won't work also
b580 works fine with steam, i own one too and im not running into your issue
Then……… why
might be a stretch but make sure
aboce 4g decoding
and rebar or resizable bar
is enabled in the biosresizable not support now isee
its a requirement for the intel gpus (as in the gpus need it to function properly), and highly recommended to have enabled when you have an amd card that is among the newer ones
Bios not support it
that could be the issue
rebar is a requirement for the intel gpus
that being the cause of your issue is a guess, but i know on windows the intel arc gpus if you dont have rebar enabled, all games run like crap
so might be a bigger issue on linux since the
xe
driver is still not super ready
but again this is me just speculatinghmm
witch motherbord you using
forgot if its asrock or asus but its an m-atx with the x570 chipset
let me check
the good thing is that i can test my rebar theory though
Asus prime b550M-A Wifi II
give me a sec to and i will test my theory
love you
think we are onto something
i got a black screen now
let me switch to desktop mode and double check
steam starts, and runs
however the UI does not work in either gamemode or desktop
gamemode: black screen
desktop: window does not even render (not even window decorations) and all functions from the tray icon do not work except "exit" sometimes
now to reboot and enable rebar
nice
and steam works
Solution
yeah so you need to either change to an amd gpu, or upgrade your system to a newer motherboard and cpu
sadly
at least we fix it LOL
thank you alot !!!!
BTW
in KVM
added to my list of quirks about b580

if you cant access that channel, give yourself the contributor/technical role in <id:customize>
use some KVM base system I guess it will render it
The issue is your system lacks rebar support. This is Intel dedicated GPU specific
The reason KVM does not have the issue is because the GPU is virtualized, it's fake
The follow up question I’d have is what the flatpak does differently that lets it run and if it’s something that can be applied to the system package
Flatpak run every application inside the container basically like a virtual machine but not that safe. It also rendering things differently. That why it working.
BUT the Flatpak also have some limitations. It only allowed some of the IO by a permission system. That why some of the games can’t play, like VR games. So I ask the package version of the steam.
And it not working.
That why I am here
bit curious about this myself
