Salomon XT-6 Sneaker with Trad or Ivy Style Fits?
Bringing this over from #fashion, I mentioned liking Salomon XT-6s as a decent casual sneaker but not really seeing if or how they would mesh with my current style (note: I did not look lol), at least in comparison to sneakers like New Balance 574s/990 series or Vans Authentics/Eras.
Attached a few of the more appealing colorways (not an exhaustive list, feel free to add more), and some of my fits wearing sneakers with more traditional-leaning stuff. Do XT-6s specifically make sense in your eye or am I half baked lol?

I think the vanilla colorway could work in some of these fits

I think they’d occupy a similar space as New Balance, Karhu, Adidas / Nike, etc. except they’re a bit sleeker than many retro models from those brands so proportions may need to be tweaked.
part of my issue was profile - not so much the xt-6 being too big or too small but that i wear a lot of types of pants
What pants do you wear?
i run the gamut between 'straight' fit (501s, dickies painter pants) and 'obnoxiously giant and cropped pants' (harvestys); mostly chinos but some denim or wool or cord in the mix.
I see the vision, youre already incorporating a few elements like the popover jacket that give outdoorsy
thanks! i do think the suede on the 574s is helping out there; that fit is a little less gorp and more heritage-coded (beat up nikes probably work here too). i'm not sure the xt-6s would wear in a similar way
You are a very stylish man and any of these trainers would look good with any of your above outfits imo.
I don’t like light colors of the xt-6 and I think it defeats the gorp purpose
Go all out and get a crazy colorway
There are so many good ones and it’s a waste to get plain off white
I love that you always have a completely opposite take that is somehow also a good take
You could definitely do a xt -6 but none of these colors are doing it for me

I find my xt6 are kinda my lazy shoe cos the profile works with most my pants (from pretty wide Needles HD through to some of my fairly slim/tapered stuff).
I'm with char, there's a reason this pair is popular imo
part of me figured a brighter colorway would be more in the spirit of the shoe
I think it'd also work since a lot of your palettes are very tonal and a little subdued

Ralph Lauren himself keeps wearing these with tailoring. I thinks it comes off as more old guy comfort than stylish, but I’m not fucking Ralph Lauren
