Snapper - IO Error (subvolume is not a btrfs subvolume)

I'm trying to setup snapper through Btrfs Assistant, and tried setting a config in [Snapper Settings] with the config name "root", and path "/" it then gave the error in the title "IO Error (subvolume is not a btrfs subvolume).", I also tried to setup the config through the CLI using this command
sudo snapper -c root create-config /
sudo snapper -c root create-config /
, but got the same error is there a setup process I forgot as anytime I looked it up, this was the first procedure after installing snapper, and that should have came ready with bazzite? thank-you in advance I'd love to set this up as it gives me peace of mind, never touched Timeshift, let alone Snapper, but now that I'm moving to Linux I'd like to actually back-up my system while it's running well.

Unrelated to your error: You don't need to backup/make snapshots your rootfs, it is all on github. If you want rollbacks, they are setup ootb, just select it in grub. For even older rollbacks you can also pin images manually your apps/data is in /home

Ah, fair enough I guess I was looking at things a bit more broadly, thank-you.
