Installing BazziteOS with multiple SSDs
What should I do with the drives before installing BazziteOS?
I have 3 SSDs: 256GB (for OS only), 1TB, and 1TB. Last time, in the Steam Deck UI storage, I saw some partitions I didn’t create, and one installed drive was inaccessible for writing games or formatting, just like the other partitions I didn’t create.

I'm not sure what you mean
you can format the other SSDs after installing Bazzite on a single partition, and the other existing partitions won't be affected
(and fyi, it's "Bazzite", not "BazziteOS", but no worries)...

do the SSDs have stuff on them already?
why is the first one "for OS only"?
I just bought ssd only for OS, for 1 disk 1 partition logic. Dont ask why)
... glad i was able to help?
if you have other questions, feel free to ask
Just installed bazzite. That what i was talking about
try to go on desktop mode
and bring up a partition manager
Oh, you are here. Thank you) One moment
Sorry about other language
no worries
I have here 4 devices
What fourth?
7.74 gb
I believe zram0 is for swap
Oh i guess i know whats wrong
i have it as well
Other ssds is in ntfs format
bingo
Partitions
are the other SSDs used?
if not, just format them to BTRFS if you just plan to use them with Bazzite
But previously after installing somehow just pull games from it right to steamdeckui and it was working fine
hmmm
Those 2ssds only contains 1 folder SteamLibrary
Only games
and they use NTFS, correct?
Whole machine only for home theater gaming
HTPC 👍
Yep. Ssd for OS have NTFS partition, and 3 with unknown file system. But the other ssds have.. ill show you
Ssd for OS have NTFSthe 256GB one? it uses BTRFS according to your screenshot
My fault, i meant Fat32
Oh, largest partition is Btrfs, yes
good
(I find it odd that there is a Fat32 partition, but whatever, I don't really know that much about that)
So should i just format those 2 ssds?
if it is just game data, and not save data, yes
you will have to reinstall your games
it is not recommended for games to run on NTFS partitions, proton has issues with that
Oh, ok
Format in Btrfs?
First time see that format
(confirmation from the docs is very helpful)
yes, it's the best file system right now
I'm sorry, just sometimes info that you are looking for finds really quick, but sometimes not(
?
I mean sorry, for requesting help
Ive must to find that info myself
no worries, this place is there for help, whether you read the docs or not
And last question, i guess. Should i format last one, fourth device? What's that?
Ah, i know whats that
sometimes you don't have the correct words to find relevant stuff online, so that's why discussing with people can make things easier, like here!
That really swap file
yes
do you know what swap is?
Yep
But is it enough?
all good then
Or its dynamic?
I don't really know about that
best is to leave it as it is
Ok, ill leave it
I am very happy and grateful that such a community exists. Thank you once again!
bazzite is the best, both community and OS!
Nothing changed after formatting 🙂
In SteamDeckUI nothing changed. I have bunch of those "drives". In Desktop Mode when i trying to add them as Storage, just nothing happens
@HikariKnight hi! Can you help me one more time?) thanks
no because im heading to work
I mean when you have time)
but if you cant add them to steam its 100% a permission issue, read the automount documentation
https://docs.bazzite.gg
just ignore all the parts about formatting the drive

Ok, thanks!
I dont get it
do you just mean that the steam UI shows drives?
can you install games on those drives?
automount documentation is this: https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/Auto-Mounting_Secondary_Drives/?h=auto

what do you not get?
I figured it out. But i still have those strange empty partitions in Storage
ignore them, visual bug, no idea what causes it since steam is a blackbox
