Issues formatting and mounting internal HDD

Howdy, completely new to the whole Linux thing as I figured fuck it why not after I decided to wipe my bloated copy of windows. Working good so far, only issue is only 2 of my drives show up under "Devices" in the file manager. The 3rd drive (Being the largest and only HDD) shows up in the console when I use sudo fdisk -l But I am unable to format the drive using mkfs.ext4 /dev/sdb as it gives the error "Permission denied while trying to determine filesystem size" Any help would be appreciated of course.

Are you on KDE or Gnome? For KDE you have KDE Partition Manager and for Gnome you have Gnome disks for formating and managing partitions

This would be a good place to start in the docs https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/KDE_Partition_Manager_Auto_Mount_Guide/
KDE Partition Manager Auto Mount Guide - Bazzite Documentation
Bazzite is a custom image built upon Fedora Atomic Desktops that brings the best of Linux gaming to all of your devices.

Some things are just as simple as Windows. Filesystem mounting is a bit tricker.

Seemingly so is creating even just a folder, I'll keep plugging away at it

If your user doesn't have permissions to the drive, you might be able to see it but you don't have permission to do anything with it https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/Auto-Mounting_Secondary_Drives/#permissions-for-the-drive
