ROG Ally + External Monitor | VRR Gaming vs Desktop mode

I connected my 2k monitor (wich supports VRR) to the ROG Ally Z1E via a JSAUX HB1201S dock (supports VRR too) using Display Port 1.4. When in Desktop mode it works perfectly well but when I'm in gaming mode it limits the FPS to 60 and VRR doesn't work. I can see it in the QAM that the limiter activates and the upper limit is only 60 FPS when the monitor supports up to 120hz. I've tried to toggle off the FPS limiter but it stays at 60 FPS too. It's not a big problem to me since in desktop mode works well but I'm just curious why in Gaming mode doesn't work as well.
Solution:
did you make sure to go to steam’s display settings in game mode, uncheck automatically select resolution, and check if there’s a 120hz mode available to use?

it’s a bit odd about what it chooses as the default sometimes

No, I really didn't. I didn't think that the resolution/refresh rate changed between desktop mode and gaming mode. I will check it out. Thanks Matt!

In Gaming mode I've manually change the refresh rate of the monitor to 120 Hz and it works as expected, just like in Desktop mode. 👍🏽
