Windows install doesnt show on grub. Windows is Legacy BIOS
Hi! I just installed Bazzite yesterday and I have a small issue. Im dual booting windows, each OS has its own hard drive but grub doesnt detect the windows drive/boot manager. Ive tried the regenerate grub command and checked a bunch of stuff and I can boot windows from the bios boot picker but grub doesnt work. In the end I think it might be related to the fact that my windows install is Legacy BIOS (I dont know a lot about BIOS stuff) but I found this odd bc I had a manjaro install the the manjaro grub picked up the windows boot just fine

you'll want to fix Windows rather than try to fix the grub detection
Windows being installed in legacy mode means you have CSM on, which gimps your hardware
not conducive to gaming
ahhhh
is there a way to fix this without reinstalling windows?
yes, it's not fun but it's doable
lots of guides out there
my PC is kinda of a mess right now, a frankestein of my own stuff and hardware from work after I moved on to wfh and the IT guy did some experiments on it
thanks I will try
and after windows is in UEFI I should be able to pick just "UEFI" in bios boot options and grub should be able to pick it up, right?
Yep
a friend held my hand through the process, windows is now UEFI and grub recognizes it and eveything is booting properly 🙌
thanks for the help, gonna mark this as solved
and now I will try to install rEFInd in bazzite for a better boot manager
