When in Game Mode I keep getting the client update for Dec 3.

It doesn't seem to matter if I update in game mode or in desktop mode. In game mode it acts like it is applying the update, says it will take 20 mins, then says done. If I use the terminal and ujust to run updates everything updates just fine. Steam applies updates in desktop mode as well without issue. I'm not sure why it keeps telling me every few days that I need to apply the Dec 3 steam client update in game mode, but any assistance in getting it to stop would be appreciated.

The update information in game mode is known to be incorrect since itโ€™s offered by Steam rather than the OS Applies to the estimated remaining time as well, but it does the same thing as updating in desktop mode

Ah okay. Thanks for the info! I figured there was an explanation or fix and I just wasnโ€™t finding it.

See if there are any errors when using the system update in desktop mode. If you have any layered packages then they might conflict with the update and you need to remove them. You can check if you have any layered packages with rpm-ostree status and you can remove them with rpm-ostree reset Then update after rebooting. Also the update shown in gamemode can be a steam update (if it applies fast)

Oh yeah and I am on Steam Deck, I wonder why itโ€™s the exception here?

Getting the same thing on Rog Ally. In gaming mode > settings > system there is a beta update showing for January 7th. However I'm sure this has already been applied as I switched to desktop mode and verified that is the case. rpm-ostree output:

Should I rebase back to stable?

Open handheld daemon and check the updates tah It will probably tell you you layered something
