Question on Boggi Milano coat I bought

Hello I recently discovered Boggi Milano in an outlet shop and got a beautiful coat for 300 euros instead of 750!. So it says 95% wool 5% alpaga for the external fabric, but the lining says its a mix of viscose and polyester. Im relatively new to dressing well and I heard I should aim for 0% of such fabrics in my coats/suits etc. But is that for the 'external part' kind of fabric only? Also second question the sales guy told me I bought a size 50(Italian sizes I believe) but I just realized the paper inside with the fabric info says size 46.. is it possible its not the same kind of size? I can add a picture if it helps Thanks

EU 46 is a IT 50 iirc Also what’s the viscose to poly ratio I actually quite like viscose I think it’s fine as a lining

I mean it’s a big high but I’m guessing that’s just to prevent damage and increase longevity nothing inherently bad here just different preferences

that's a perfectly normal and reasonable fabric comp for lining.

Okay I see So its expected to not have everything made of wool or cashmere etc? Even for the lining?

no

absolutely not some people don’t have poly work well on their skin

Sorry you mean lining is usually made of another product? Or that its usually wool etc as well? I phrased my question poorly

this lining is fine

Ah alright, cool Do higher end brands tend to make it of the same fabric? I have no idea how it works

depends on the brand - one brands "50" may differ from another if you have a coat that fits how you want, measure it (sleeves, pit to pit, shoulder seam to shoulder seam, length) and compare with the listing

For lining, the best is usually Bemberg (type of cupro), and after that it's the other viscose/rayon artificial silks Silk is an ok lining for coats and jackets but it runs hot and is less durable Poly viscose blend should be more than fine
Wonkymythology
Your coat lining should not be touching your skin anyway? You'll have a shirt on under it probably. Viscose is rayon is cupro is bemburg, just different brands of rayon (cellulose based fabric). 50 poly 50 viscose is fine, it might smell more when you sweat depending on what type of poly it is I guess. Afaik IT sizing is the same as EU sizing but Zeo is right in that you should go off measurements

robot00002w ago
my understanding is that Bemberg is a trademarked property version of cupro

I’ve heard this as well but I’ve always been recommended an IT 50 at places like Zegna and Brunello vs EU 46 at Burberry, SLP, Celine

Seems to be a different blend ratio Composition principale: 97 % - WOOL 3 % - ELASTAN Doublure du corps: 52 % - POLYESTER 48 % - VISCOSE

Oh no mb The coat I have is from boggi milano The one I sent through a link is from Gutteridge The one from boggi yeah its amazing Im just wondering if I can order a size 50 coat from another italian brand
zeometer
zeometer2w ago
does the boggi milano fit how you want? if so, maybe. measure it, look for another coat, see if the measurements match. you may need to find a 48 or 52 or different size depending on the maker; that's just how clothing makers are sometimes
HeavenRoad
HeavenRoadOP2w ago
Yep but there are no measurements for the gutteridge one Yeah the one from boggi is amazing

Not much we can do about that, unfortunately. You can try emailing them or contacting them via whatsapp

There's a range of measurements in the sizing chart beyond that https://www.gutteridge.com/fr_FR/size-guide-new.html

Yep around 110cm for chest is size 50 and I know im around that chest size. Im really confused why my boggi coat says size 46 inside. I doubt is because 46 is 100cm for chest and thats not me for sure Thanks for the link

Late, but still: that label says 46, it's the italian size. It's like an UK 36. If measurement doesn't match, maybe they sew the wrong label inside... what does the tag say? Gutteridge vs Boggi tends to be less slim, in general.
HeavenRoad
HeavenRoadOP5d ago
Hey, which tag? Inside it says 46.. but I doubt it. Im new to this but the cms of sleeves etc seem to be closer to a 50, which is M/L. In general nothing in S fits me.. But wouldn't it be super weird for the tag inside to be wrong?@Fmkb

I mean the price tag 🙂 Usually their garments come with a paper tag with model, size, color and price on it. If it says 50, might be really an error on the sewn label: after all, what counts more are measurements 🙂

HeavenRoadOP5d ago
Hmm I don't have it anymore they kept it when I bought it.. all I got is this Here

Fmkb5d ago
Then I think the only way is to check the actual measurements: if you can find the coat on their website maybe you can cross-check the measurements to understand the size? For Gutteridge I'd try to get actual measurements anyway, personally I wear one size smaller in that brand vs Boggi, but length can be a bit challenging.
HeavenRoad
HeavenRoadOP5d ago
Tried that but I can't find the coat anywhere anyway I didnt go with the Gutteridge one, I got another one from Canali, second hand. A steal for around 250 bucks, almost new. Its size 48 but the measurements looked close. Can't wait to receive it As for the boggi mystery well.. Its weird I think the suit I bought from them is size 50 too
Fmkb
Fmkb5d ago
Well, then there is no match, some Gutteridge fabrics are nice but Canali is definetely on another level 🙂 eBay? Strange for the Boggi, yes... but good brand at outlet prices anyway
