disable updates auto download

Hi, I have limited internet usage and I don't use Steam Gaming Mode (the documentation says that updates are not downloaded automatically in Steam Gaming Mode), so I don't want updates to be downloaded automatically in the background. Is there an option in the settings for this? (I don't mean to disable downloading updates permanently, I just want to manually check for updates)

also if you mark your connection appropriately the auto update will not trigger

Do you mean that entering this code in the terminal is enough?

since you have turned off automatic updates then you need to get your updates manually. When you have faster unlimited internet available then you can either open the terminal and type ujust update or you can search for the "System Update" application that will do updates for you

this also apply to windows, if your connection is "metered" (aka not unlimited) most auto update will be not triggered if you are tethering usually its automatically marked as "metered" but if your wifi is not unlimited for some reason then you probably need to mark it manually (because wifi is usually assumed as unlimited) yes
