How should I go about updating to a newer version?

probably a stupid question, but is there a easy way to update my server & it's plugins up to a newer version of minecraft all at once or is the best way to just do it manually for every plugin individually? I don't want to lose the pre-existing configs. I am very new to this sort of thing and want to know the procedure that's common practice amongst you guys!

All manually I believe, as simple as swapping .jar files and double-check if there's any compatibility issue with the configs & worlds. Upgrading version of any plugin's jars wouldn't cause any issue so far unless there's notice from the authors & and the same should apply with the server's jars Normally thats what I do lol

Okay thanks. Should I download them all and paste them and then restart with the new version or do it all seperately

With the server jars, yeah you can do that but with the plugins... You can create a folder called "update" inside "plugins" folder and drag all new version of plugins you got and the server will update it all next time you start
