How can I fix it from it happening often
Very likely a decky plugin you've installed
Try disabling them all

It happened to me when tried to preview decky changes
@Kyle Gospo do you know why I’m on the gaming mode there is no sound at all in the steam menu etc but when I open a game there is sound??
The speaker isn’t muted idk what’s going on
Switch to desktop and turn up the sound for the steam client
You muted it by accident at some point
Play a trailer on the store to get it to appear
Nope still no sound within steam
And it’s not muted
Oh got it fixed n
All good
Let’s see if in gaming it’s good now
