fair enough haha, it's more helpful that way to see the fit of the clothes as well
I'm just looking for color advice/pairing different items advice in general rn, I'm willing to try stuff on
Genuinely it's impossible for anyone to offer advice with flat lays and product shots instead of seeing the clothes on body
Ppl are more than willing to offer advice or even critique but u gotta put the shit on first
i would say look for outfits you like with similar shapes or colors to stuff you own and do something like that
say find fits you like with pleated pants if you have them, then do something close with the tops
To add to what carrion and oman have already said, I thing the best think you could do is look at https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1116800072093532191 and see if you spot any outfits you like using similar items to what you have in your closet and use that as inspo for building outfits with what you have
All I'm looking for is to see different combinations of my clothes and see which ones would be good to try on at a glance cuz I'm going to be here all day if I try on all of the outfits I'm considering
thats kinda what you have to do
to
learn
sounds good, I'll just think of combos myself then and see how they work, will come back in a bit then
ive put on most of the stuff i own quite a few times in lots of bad outfits to find out waht i like
it can be disheartening that there isn't a quick solution but honestly from personal experience trying combos, taking pictures and posting to waywt was the best way for me to learn what I liked and what I didn't
I did that in a way before as well, I was just thinking that I should practice the first step of seeing if things will work in my mind a bit more before immediately jumping to trying things on
just to practice my intuition about colors or fits even before trying things on
this only works to a certain extent, from experience i've thought something would work great in my mind and when I put it on and look in the mirror it doesn't. There is more to it than just colour
The fit and material of the individual items
What do you guys think of this
For the top I used an off white kind of jacket and a grey mock neck sweater on the inside
I'm trying to see what works with these wide black pants
I'm thinking I could just change the dark grey mock neck to a white crew neck sweater instead
This is after changing the sweater
I actually feel like the grey mock neck without the fleece/jacket would look pretty good
Hmm ok gotcha, I'll try wearing that when the weather gets warmer where I'm at then
Let me take a pic with that
Here's a different one, thoughts?
Imagine monochrome
Like this
Here's another one
Thoughts? Maybe it's just pretty simple so far, mostly interesting parts come from the silhouette/fit rather than color
Here's another one
This one I think is pretty solid, red adds some nice contract between the pants and cardigan. Shoes will also play a big part in how it all comes together though
I was thinking I'd used my new balance 2002R with these
So I'd use these
What are your thoughts on this one? Same thing but now top and bottom match
Looks good, the new balances could work pretty well with this one to create a monochrome kinda thing
I'm not sure how well they would work with the black and red but you'd have to try it to see how it looks
Yeah I was thinking I'd use my black Chelsea boots for those
yeh I could see that working well
Here's the same thing but different jackets, which do you think is better?
For the left pic I was thinking I'd do either Chelsea boots or the new balance and for the right I'd just use new balance
I think the left one is a more interesting jacket but idk if I love it with the rest, right is good tho
agree with oman, I can see the right jacket working well with the new balances in a relaxed kinda vibe
Left jacket is good I just think it’s not working with the white pants
What would you change to for the pants?
Something darker maybe a Jean or cargo if you have them
They feel to light and dressy for a more utilitarian jacket
Hmm ok I have chinos, some jeans maybe that would be better
Maybe like some khaki or black jeans or chinos?
Yeah
Gotcha 👌 I'm just trying to make different combos and taking pics rn, well be back
NP
I know I said it already but honestly post in waywt (you can add that you're open to feedback as a title to the post), it's what helped me out the most
Sure can I post multiple pictures in one thread?
if you wanted feedback on multiple outfits i'd probably do it as a post in this channel, waywt works better as just what you were wearing that day
Under the first one sure, but really just put something on every day
Take a pic and see what you and others think
Developing your taste in clothes is never quick it take just trying stuff out it doesn’t all have to happen at once
How's this one? The sweater is grey and I put light olive chinos on, they fit my leg a bit more narrowly/are skinnier
The color is good, I want them to be bigger, the jacket runs pretty oversized so it’s clashing a bit to me
Will do, thx for the tips
Like you think the sweater should be bigger/longer/more wide to match the jacket?
More the pants
I think it would help the silhouette overall
Sweater isn’t really effecting that I like it a lot
Hmm gotcha I don't have very wide olive pants, so maybe switch it for a wider black pants or something?
Also is it strange to wear trousers with something like the outfit above? I often just put on more formal pants
What do you think of this? Change the pants color or nah?
I like that
Yeah could work
How would you describe my current style?
I tried looking online for some descriptions but I didn't find any single label that got it down
if you really want a name normcore is the closest fit imo
i would focus less on the aesthetic label and more on what clothes/styling you like. you have a google sites page for your wardrobe, but it may help to create one for inspiration with pics of others' fits from #waywt or #inspiration or other places online
@Curios It would help if you were able to take full body fit pics. That means everything including your shoes is in the shot.
The pics you're posting are okay for looking at color combos but make it really hard to actually get a sense for the whole outfit.
