When steam input is disabled, input leaks to the game in the background when steam overlay is opened

I have added a non-Steam game (Ghost of Tsushima) to my Steam library since it's not available in my region. To play the game, Steam Input needs to be disabled, similar to how it works with Spider-Man. However, whenever I try to open the Steam overlay or menu using the Steam button or '...', the input leaks into the game itself while I am navigating through the Steam overlay. Is this a limitation of Steam, or is there something I might have missed on my end in setting this up? Device: ROG Ally X Image: bazzite-deck:stable Current: 41.20241216

Guessing it's installed from epic, This is a steam issue. Since disable steam input you remove steams ability to I guide the input to the right location based on if the side menus are open or not.

Hmm, this wasn’t an issue on my Steam Deck; it only happens when an external controller is directly connected, not when using the integrated controller with Steam Input disabled. My guess is that this occurs because Bazzite Ally X emulates an Xbox controller, signaling to Steam that it’s using the external controller, unlike the Steam Deck’s integrated controller. It might be a limitation in how Bazzite and Steam interact.

To my knowledge the deck controller and steam controller have steam input forced on Turning steam input off on the deck would put it back in lizard mode HHD also has the option to use the steam controller (from hori) as a controller type too Which is a better controller type (the dumb triggers on the hori is a physical issue, using it as a controller type gives you full analog triggers as you would expect had the hori pad for steam been a good controller)

i think hikari is right steamos does not have a driver for the steam deck controller so it doesnt work on its own
