anyone own vintage YSL tailoring?

I was just wondering how you like the quality, what you have, what to look out for, how you experience it etc.

what era/types of stuff are you interested in? I have an 80s ysl suit and a few ties from the 90s-2000s. YSL used to be a department store brand so in my experience at least the quality is not actually too impressive compared to other stuff from the same era. This is not to say it's bad, it's just not special or any different from other department store stuff I've bought from the 70s-80s I like the style and the brand but a lot of it is pretty overpriced online bc of YSL's modern market position

i have a pair of triple pleated pants which i think are 90s era - they're absurdly high waisted and high rise but otherwise very similar in feel to a dress pant

My suit was like $80 on ebay and a bunch of sport coats from them that I have on my watchlist are like $50-$100. I personally wouldn't pay more than like $150 for any of their old tailoring unless it's something really special

and just from browsing ebay there's a lot of good looking but regular tailoring being offered at admittedly decent prices; no giant lapels or shoulders

yeah it's pretty hard to find that kind of stuff at good prices. I'd recommend looking for 3 piece suits for that, people tend to list the good ones for like $300+ often but you have to dig

Yeah that's kind of what I was curious about. I see a lot of suits from YSL pop up on second hand marketplaces and I'm wondering how they actually hold up to brands like armani, brioni, valentino etc
