Is this bag too big for me? It’s 15 inches, if it’s too big what size is better?

This is a friends briefcase, first time buying one and I don’t know how it should fit/look. I’m mainly gonna carry notebooks pens etc, and maybe an iPad or a small laptop. No size requirement. Thanks
