Dress Shirt Fabrics
Just got a dress shirt from Kamakura in broadcloth and it is definitely too transparent for me. So what is the next most formal fabric that wouldn’t be transparent? Pinpoint Oxford? Dobby? Twill?

is undershirt an option here? ive had that fix problems with shirts feeling too transparent
broadcloth and poplin are sheer. twill, dobby, oxford, etc are all thicker
but oman is also right, undershirt goes a long way
from the kamakura site

on pinpoint oxford and royal oxford both state less sheer than broadcloth
tho i do own their broadcloth and it is very nice with an undershirt.
get uniqlo airism or something similar if you don't like cotton undershirts
I'd definitely wear undershirts with dress shirts in general though
They look like nice shirts but I’m just not a fan of undershirts. Just don’t like how they fit and make me feel. I do think I’ll go with twill or pinpoint, whichever I can find that’s available. Also having sizing issues too where it seems I have non-normal proportions?
there are tons of dress shirt cuts out there, this one may just not be for you no matter the size.
That’s true, and I’ve looked at others but I get lost. Like I went to ProperCloth and did their size questionnaire and it gave me wildly not standard measurements for what shirts they make. Like an 18.75” yoke, 15.5” neck, 23.30” chest.
Maybe I’ll do their home try on option. Seems to be the safest option since I don’t have any store near me
Honestly I never wear undershirts with dress shirts for similar reasons so I get it. But it means they don't last as long because I have to wash them more.
I've just decided I'm okay with spending more on shirts and having to replace them more frequently. It's worth it to me for the comfort.
