Hi @dig5549 , Regarding your request for support for connected apps like Gmail and Outlook, are you asking if it's possible to integrate these platforms (Gmail, Outlook, etc.) with Kinde or your system, for features such as retrieving user data (emails, contacts, etc.) or enabling authentication through OAuth? This would typically involve using the APIs provided by Gmail and Outlook (Google APIs and Microsoft Graph API, respectively) to access their data. Let me know if this is what you're referring to, and I'd be happy to guide you through the process. Best regards, Ages

Yes. I would like to do the above using kinde access token. And I believe connected apps provides that functionality. Is it possible to use kinde's access token to get an access token to access the APIs provided by Gmail and Outlook @Ages

Hi @dig5549, I will look into the possibility of using Kinde's access token to obtain an access token for accessing the APIs provided by Gmail and Outlook. I'll investigate further and get back to you with more information.

Hi @dig5549, Thank you for your inquiry regarding integrating Kinde with external applications like Gmail and Outlook. Currently, Kinde's Connected Apps feature supports integrations with specific services, such as Microsoft SSO, to facilitate authentication and data access. https://docs.kinde.com/authenticate/social-sign-in/microsoft-sso/ To integrate with Gmail or Outlook, you would typically use their respective APIs—Google APIs and Microsoft Graph API—to access user data. This process generally involves obtaining access tokens directly from these services, as Kinde does not currently provide a direct method to obtain access tokens for these platforms. For a temporary solution, you might consider implementing OAuth 2.0 flows directly with Gmail and Outlook to obtain the necessary access tokens. This approach would involve setting up OAuth credentials with Google and Microsoft, handling the authentication flow, and securely storing the access tokens for subsequent API calls. Please note that our engineering team is currently on holiday for the Christmas season, which may result in slower response times. They will be available to assist you further once they return. In the meantime, I recommend exploring the direct integration approach mentioned above and let me know how it goes. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to reach out.

Hi @dig, Have you had the opportunity to explore the suggested OAuth 2.0 flow using Google and Microsoft APIs to obtain the necessary access tokens? As mentioned earlier, Kinde currently doesn’t support using its access tokens to retrieve tokens for these platforms. If you have any additional questions or need further assistance with the integration, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Otherwise, we’ll assume the issue is resolved and close this ticket. Of course, you’re welcome to reopen it or contact us if needed.

Thanks for the follow-up. I will not manage access tokens and refresh tokens. So I'm looking for other solutions. @Ages any plan to support for further connected app?

Hi @dig , Thank you for the update. I understand that managing access tokens and refresh tokens might not be ideal for your use case. we are always exploring ways to enhance our features. as of now, I don’t have any concrete timelines for when additional connected app support may be available. However, I’ll make sure to pass along your feedback to the team for consideration in future updates. If you have any other questions or if there’s anything else I can assist with, feel free to let me know. I'm happy to help
