do GATs fit my style or would they just be a neat thing in my closet?
i’m doing that thing again where i’m recognizing the historic usage of a piece and strongly considering it because it’s really cool when garments have a story but i typically don’t wear sneakers like that anymore

They could maybe work with the first fit?
My style is approaching the fits you posted here and well, there’s a reason I had to dig the GATs out of my closet
I think they work in the same realm as vans and converse but if you're not feeling sneakers as much these days it might not be worth seeking 'em out. but as far as the shoes themselves i find 'em to be a pretty versatile lower profile white sneaker, yea.
this cw maybe but probably not the standard white ones
also the story is like, military
which I guess can integrate into a lot of like punk alt fits but
photos 2-4 would all do better w black leather boots as opposed to gats
okay so i am a fool. GATS aren't the modern mesh style sneaker. but i'm definitely pivoting hard into like the suede/canvas/leather group of sneakers over the standard modern mesh sports thing.
like growing up, mesh sneaks were basically all i wore
oh wait those are cute
tbf i DO have a pair of modern duty boots (danner acadias)
i just need to get the shit to clean em with and then actually do it
yeah I mean like it’s just an intentionality thing lol
milsurp has been a staple of alt/punk for years
GATs would work just as well as the shoes you have on in all these photos imo
personally I think they go with everything, they're my most worn sneakers
so that's my bias
also though: it's certainly okay to just have a cool neat thing in your wardrobe. If you think GATs are cool and you want a pair you should get them knowing they're very versatile and it won't be hard to make outfits that pair with them.
I have a lot of stuff that's like that
At the end of the day they're cool shoes because they have an interesting history and story, not just because of how they look.
