Steam game wont launch

Hello, I have a steam game that used to work but after reinstalling bazzite, it no longer works.
The game is "Gray Zone Warfare" and there are other using linux that it works for just fine so I dont believe it to be a game issue. I have reinstalled the game multiple times and tried different variations of proton. I hit "play" on the steam UI, it turns to the blue cancel button for a split second and returns to the "play" button. I tried adding "PROTON_LOG=1" as a launch option but did not see the output in my home directory. Note: I reinstalled bazzite after failing to remove some layered apps and now am using boxbuddy instead.

you need %command% after PROTON_LOG=1

if that stilll doesn't log, close steam entirely and launch it via the terminal then put the full output here after failing to launch a game It's just steam in the terminal

this is the info from the initial launch via terminal

for permissions you must have exec after user or proton can't run from it
Hellfire Republic
ok, I'll backup the data and start that drive over ok so this is what I missed last time
sudo chown $USER:$USER /var/mnt/games
sudo chown $USER:$USER /var/mnt/games
I re-mounted the drive and after steam re-downloaded proton, my games launch now. Thank you!
