Tan Wide Leg Trousers for Christmas party
Curious to know opinions here. I've got my work Christmas party tomorrow which is a big meal with all in the business (over 300 staff).
It used to be a relatively formal event, suits for men, but over the last few years, it has relaxed somewhat. There were people there in business casual attire, Christmas jumpers, etc.
I'd like to try something different to my usual suit choices and wondered whether wide leg trousers in a tan colour from Uniqlo would be suitable to wear along with a chocolate/deep purple suit jacket or is Tan a colour I should stay away from?

What does the jacket look like?
It's similar-ish to this. Maybe slightly darker, but also has black satin lapel
not feeling it imo
to me at least the satin trim would make it hard to pair the jacket with anything but a corresponding suit pant
I would also add that a slim fitting jacket will probably look odd with wide leg pants like the ones you posted
Right I managed to get the two potential outfits put together. Obviously the socks on the two piece wouldn't be those beige ones. Hopefully that helps visualise things better
Second looks much better
The skinnies kill me haha
Both are too slim for my tastes but regardless the wide trousers look very odd with that style and cut of jacket
Your jacket is also skinny. If that's the only jacket you have I think wearing the full suit is the better choice
Yeah it's a "slim" suit from a few years back. I do have a black blazer which I could potentially try but I think that may be a slim fit/skinny suit too
Been a nightmare trying to find decent party suits here this year.
Seconding this, the satin lapels make the jacket look like a tuxedo jacket which you usually don't want to wear with anything other than a matching pair of pants
This is option 3 actually and isn't as skinny feeling as the other suit. It's fully black with a satin trim down the outside of each leg. Socks again not to be worn irl
Appreciating all the input btw. It's extremely helpful
I like those, best of the 3 by a lot imo
I think this may be the one then. It's the most comfortable out of the two full suit options. Shopping list for next year is a less hugging suit haha
