Hosting Regions Query

I want to host a server. I live in Australia and want to know if ping/latency will be that bad for my players if I select Sydney Au for the server's region as opposed to the US or UK or is it negligible? TL;DR should I host in Australia or will the lag for people in US/UK be too enormous and if so should I just bite the bullet and have my ping individually be worse off. This is probably such a stupidly simple question and I apologise

You can use something like this to compare latency between cities: https://wondernetwork.com/pings
WonderNetwork
Global Ping Statistics - WonderNetwork
WonderNetwork operates a global network of servers and leverages them to provide network testing solutions. View ping times between WonderNetwork servers.

(I don't know how accurate it is, but will give you a rough idea, it could be worse depending on your players ISP, routing or many other factors) If you have test IPs from a host you're interested in, you can use a website like https://ping.pe with the test IP to see the latency to that IP from many different locations But yes, the latency will be pretty substantial from Australia to the UK, it will be less substantial to west coast US, but still pretty bad You could try playing on public servers in these regions to see if that amount of latency is acceptable to you.
