Kevin used Astro + TinaCMS in his BeyondCSS course, I've been meaning to try it looks decent.
Also just for next time these kinda questions can probably go in #discussions 👍
Unfortunately don't think this is the answer you're looking for but my business uses astro and Prismic. Don't recommend. Used it when they had a free plan and affordable starter plan. It's mediocre at best and they've raised their prices. It's not worth me switching but I would 100% not use it in future projects.
There's so many better options out there
I really enjoy Prismic and they do have a free plan still.
I'm using Prismic and SvelteKit right now to build for my "agency" because I'm tired of WP and if the Clients wants to have access to the CMS at they can pay more more and I'll pay more. Ez.
From a Developer POV it allows for so much nice control over what the content team can do. Free teir gives you a hefty use of the image cdn too.. 🤷♂️ just my opinion on Prismic, not trying to discredit yours. I can see pricing being an issue.
Pretty sure TinaCMS is free 🤔
ah you can self host Tina free* but its cloud is all $$$ 🤔
My apologies, it wasnt them getting rid of the free tier, that was a different service. They don't allow the free tier for commercial use. That's fine, but I swear the price has jumped like 120% of what it was when I signed up? I don't mind paying but for something so simple to just jack the pricing up that much is insane
When a company does that it just instantly loses my trust
Yea completely fair, I heard about that and they said they should have done better about notifying and explaining the new tier pricing.
Totally can see that
Also I'll use it for my personal clients if I'm the only user on free tier until they tell me I can't. I hardly will hit usages for most so 😂
Lol I won't tell anyone 😂. If it was just me in the company, likely would have done the same thing 😬
Yeah i mostly wanna use it for clients . I like building Astro its easy to optimize, but clients need to be able to edit some stuff and at the end of the day they just want WP 😄
Thanks!
Yeah, was thinking of putting it in os and tools but wasnt sure, fair point
yea no worries just not really a front end question 😄 just keep in mind for next time there is the kinda catch all for that in #discussions
Kinda there for asking opinions and such
I know this pain all too well. 😦
WP hell
I come from an SEO background , so I would classify Shopify as hell 😄
and then WP as only Limbo 😄
It's really not bad if I do it but most the time I'm working with what they had already and its some theme built on 2 other themes 😂
or Elementor 🤢
I actually like shopify cause Liquid templating is not too bad.
Isnt it just Twig ?
but yea lots of the same can happen with tha too
like Shopify Twig
Its kinda like Twig (not sure if you can)
I know there is some movement in being able to use Remix(React router 7) now but I'm not a React fan but would try it ig.
Haven't finished BeyondCSS yet but was thinking of skipping to the last module to check out how he did Astro +TinaCMS
BeyondCSS is nice, as a whole Kevin is pretty good at explaining stuff
oftopic but: Did you like having the SASS converter playground in the course? Used it and liked it?
I use SASS so i could say it was helpful. One of My own websites im developing is on : https://github.com/FlyntWP/flynt?tab=readme-ov-file so it does use SCSS it was weird etc.. as a whole i am kind of new to programming so im not sure didnt CSS on its own develop enough to not use SASS anymore etc..
I was very confused when i started working with SASS , SCSS and all that stuff
Cause i just finished Kevin's course in Scrimba back then
and i was like "wtf is going on here "
Will post a real issue now in front-end channel cause im gonna go crazy soon 😄 😄
See I love shopify! Use it personally for my own business. I find liquid pretty intuitive, but one of the first templating languages I used was jinja with flask and dtl with django. It's also just a good ecomm platform. I can't get with WordPress 😂
