PnC: why am I wrong?

This is the logic I used: 1st slot: 2 possibilities (out of the ladies) 2nd slot: 2 possibilities (out of the old men) In the next 2 slots, anyone can fit (since "at most 2 young men" can't get violated when there are only 2 slots left) So for the next 2 slots since order doesn't matter, 6C2 possibilities = 15 possibilities Total = 2 times 2 times 15 = 60 But that's not an option, so where'd I go wrong?

case 1 : 0 young men therefore 2 ladies 2 old men : only 1 possibility case 2 : 2 young men therfore 1 lady 1 old man total possibilites 4c2 * 22 = 24 case 3 : 1 young man subcase : 1 young man , 1 lady , 2 old men , possibilites = 42 subcase : 1 young man 2 lady , 1 old man possibilities = 4*2 total = 8+8 =16 total case = 1+24+16 @Gamertug @Nimboi

wait a sec why does this give diff ans

Overcounting occurs in this way: Suppose the case L1 pehle slot mein aa gayi and another case L2 3rd slot mein and L1 third mein and L2 first mein. Both the cases are same no?

I didn't understand :sweaty: Here order doesn't matter right So I thought by pre-assigning 2 slots we're just making sure those conditions are fulfilled
SirLancelotDuLac
Consider this: -, -, -, - If you put one lady on first slot and another on third slot that is one case If you put the other lady on first slot and the first one on third slot that is another case Here first slot is the one which choses only out of the two women and the third slot is the one which chooses openly.
