Starfield on steam stopped launching.
I have been playing Starfield via steam on Bazzite and it has been working well for weeks. I was playing for several hours today and closed the game, went and ate lunch and when I came back and relaunched the game, the steam dialog for processing vulkan shaders popped up. Once it did its thing the game refuses to launch. It will show it is launching in steam then after about a minute it just goes back to a green launch button.
- I checked, and no updates were downloaded or installed while I was gone.
- I have tried restarting steam, and the whole computer.
- I have verified the files in steam.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this game working again?

Well I seemed to have fixed it by changing the compatibility setting from proton experimental, to proton 9.03. Which forced steam to download that, and recompile shaders.
I wonder if an update to proton experimental came out today and caused the issue? Marking as solved for now.
As an aside, this could have resulted from a few things that are common:
1. Proton Experimental may have introduced a regression that breaks support
2. the prefix may have needed to be refreshed
They dropped an update to proton 9.0-3 yesterday making it proton 9.0-4 and it broke the game for me again. I switched to proton 8.0 and its working for me again.
