PC won't boot after deleting swap partition - job dev-disk-by\x2duuid no limit

I'm getting this message and it won't boot even after a long time has passed. Any ideas on what I should try? I have already remade a swap partition and it still won't boot. Thanks in advance!

You probably have a reference to your old swap partition in your /etc/fstab file. I made a video for getting the system out of emergency mode, it might help for fixing your error too. https://docs.bazzite.gg/Advanced/Auto-Mounting_Secondary_Drives/#emergency-mode-after-mounting

thank you, I haven't gotten into emergency mode though watching your video to see I I can follow your instructions - how do I access emergency mode?

Yeah it isn't the exact scenario but you did remove a partition and the machine doesn't boot anymore, so I thought it might help you. But will see if it does or not

I did init=/bin/bash and it still went to this screen

I'm able to directly edit fstab by booting into a Linux image via USB, is this an option?

Does it boot eventually if you leave it for 5 minutes? You might be able to get in and update the fstab file without any workarounds Be careful about editing the /etc/fstab file with another USB I ended up with my home partition not mounting when I tried that. I think SELinux doesn't like it when you do that.

I waited for 20 minutes and it won't boot regardless okay, I won't consider that an option then any ideas on why I wouldn't be able to edit fstab this way? did I mess up somehow?

You didn't mess up at all. I'm guessing that it tries to load the swap partition regardless. I'm out of ideas. I'm going to see if I can simulate your issue in my VM Let me just check something with you. Did you remove a partition in KDE Partition manager or GParted (a swap partition). Or did you remove a swap file?

I removed it in gparted i figured it wouldn't be an issue as bazzite doesn't use swap, but now neither bazzite nor windows will boot

Very weird that Windows doesn't boot. That part doesn't make sense at all
Gio

windows boot will throw me directly into bazzites's grub

could you load linux mint and lets have a look at your partitions in gparted? Or whatever tool you used for gparted

sure, a moment

And you deleted the linux-swap and created it again?

aye I tried booting with and without linux-swap, no dice

So it looks like you overwrote your Windows EFI at some point in time. Assuming that your first partition used to be your Windows EFI. That would explain why Windows isn't booting. You also have 3 1 GB ext 4 partitions which were probably past /boot partitions. Were these old Bazzite install attempts or other Linux OSes that you tried previously? I created and removed swap partitions and couldn't reproduce a state where the system doesn't boot so something else might be wrong. I'm out of ideas right now. I'd back up any thing important and reinstall at this point.

This is what my partitions look like in my VM

I'm trying to backup everything and reinstall, yeah. don't see other options appreciate you helping me out and yeah, I installed other OSes and bazzite as well previously, so it's a mess
