Fit Check Advice

Bought 44S (My Arms are short). I'm 5'10 210lbs. A 46R falls off of me. Normally don't wear blazers but needed this as an emergency for a Christmas Party. Will it do? Or is it simply not a fit? It's a bit snug in the middle but the party is a couple weeks off. I've been losing weight. Roughly 2-2.5lbs per week. Wondering if this will fit just right by then? Or is it passable now? Thanks in advance!

Here is the fit with a different, lighter colored shirt for contrast. Again, thanks in advance!

It looks a bit too small, yeah. Potentially short, too.

That’s what I was afraid of. Another inch off my midsection and I’d say it would fit almost perfectly there. Shoulders seem ok as well.

def seems small in the body it might be short but it would help to get a full body shot with both arms at the sides, a la

FWIW, I am able to cup both my hands at the bottom of the jacket and grab it — if that makes sense.

from experience one can't always predict how weight loss will affect body composition in tailoring; if it were me i'd try to find a 46S and get the sleeves tailored in some way

I think I’m definitely on the cusp of a 44S. I tried on a 46S and the shoulders were just too big. 😬

it's worth noting different brands will cut their jackets differently; just from the shoulder you may fit a 44 from one maker and a 46 on another

Seems like I’m kind of in between sizes where a 44S is a bit too snug and a 46S is a bit too big in the shoulders. I definitely don’t mind paying a tailor to bring it out or bring it in or shorten the sleeves, but it might cost an arm and a leg to alter the shoulders. 😔 Good point! I should try different brands for sure. Great point.

to say nothing of how all bodies are different; i'm a "40R" by chest but have super long arms that are suited for 42 or 44 depending on the maker - i usually try to find something 'good enough' in the shoulder/sleeve and then figure out everything else with a tailor

Yeah, I think with the shoulders being almost an exact fit and the fact that I’m able to cup my hands at the bottom of the blazer should ultimately mean that I might just need the sleeves shortened a tad and to lose a bit more weight for it fit just right in the middle. I’m definitely on a weight loss journey and I’ve lost about 40 pounds in the last four months so going up a size probably isn’t the most economical fit wise. Appreciate the feedback! I’ll either keep this and lose some more weight and then tailor to fit and/or check other brands.

to be honest i'm not actually able to visualize how cupping your hands and grabbing the blazer is an effective measure of length better pics would help (in a pinch, put your phone in a coffee cup on a table, set the timer, and stand like 8 ft away) but i would lean towards 'find another brand' before locking in on getting this altered

Good idea! Should have thought of that earlier 😂

it genuinely is impossible to predict where you'll lose fat unless you've body recomped multiple times (even then). To my eye this is too small in the body overall.

If I can ask — is it egregious or “yeah it’s small but you could pass it off?” Sorry, probably a stupid question but… 😬

Nah no stupid questions. I'm 100% not a suit guy and my initial reaction is "that's too small"
