FSR - Am I doing something wrong?
Hi,
I have a mini pc that has an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU which has a 780M iGPU.
I have turned on performance monitoring in game to show whether FSR is on or off.
I have set my default resolution in Steam settings to 1920x1080@60
I then launch a game, go into settings of the game and set the resolution to 1280 x 720 and set it to Windowed.
I next bring up the performance overlay by pressing the Xbox button and A and I select the FSR upscaling method, however the FSR status in the performance monitor very briefly flicks on/off but stays off. Am I doing something wrong?

Actually, have just done some more testing on this with the game "Cygni All Guns Blazing" and even though the performance monitor does not show FSR on when I enable FSR in the performance menu (it flicks briefly on and then shows off) you can see the effect on the on-screen image when FSR is enabled, so I guess it is just the performance monitor (is it mangohud?) not reporting FSR as being on? As an aside, I turned off FSR and then set the in game graphics option to 1920x1080 and it plays flawlessly at 60FPS, whereas if I try to play at 1920x1080 in Ubuntu 24.04 I am lucky if can achieve more than 24FPS! Is this simply because Bazzite uses kernel 6.11 and a newer Mesa version compared to Ubuntu running kernel 6.8 and an old Mesa version? I wasn't expecting the difference to be this extreme between Ubuntu and Bazzite!
I’m having the same issue. I tried testing it with Warframe and it also seems to lightly flicker when it’s enabled.
the fsr badge is broken right now and has been for a few months, dont know when you should expect a fix but upscaling itself does work
its an upstream bug
it was something very silly, I think I fixed it though https://github.com/ValveSoftware/gamescope/pull/1648

steamcompmgr: fix FSR badge status when using preemptive scaling by...
mangoapp relies on g_bFSRActive to determine if it should show FSR as on or off in the overlay, but this was not being set when using the new preemptive upscaling logic w/ explicit sync.
So do I just update bazzite and it’ll fix it?
no, it will need to be merged upstream first and then bazzite’s Gamescope will have to be rebuilt once it’s merged
FSR works fine, it’s just the indicator that’s broken
It wasn’t consistent enough, I’ve gotta take a closer look at that whole function sometime
either way, the actual functionality is ok
Ok, Just getting a build ready to sell and wanted to be able to show “FSR ON” but no big deal I suppose.
So I booted Kodi and PlexHTPC through steam and it says FSR ON for those
