Pressing issue - deleting files doesn't free up disk space.

Deleting files doesn't free up disk space which is getting smaller and now it's under 1GB in home folder(root is ok). I have been on bazzite for 1,5 year and this happened most likely after upgrading to f41(new kernel might be an issue?). I let it grew for a while because before upgrading I deleted some files from .cache and maybe something in .local/share. Sometimes maybe 5% of deleted file is freed but I'm almost out of options at this point...

Use Disk Usage Analyzer to really dig into what folders are what size Keep in mind that deleting one copy of deduplicated files won’t really gain you any space

Why would they be duplicated? For example I uninstalled 10GB game from steam and disk space didn't change at all. On the other hand using ujust clean restored 1GB.

what are you relying on to show your current free space? the bottom corner of Dolphin?

Yes I also got warning notifications about lack of space in home folder.

Please show an actual report from Disk Usage Analyzer than relying on Dolphin Dolphin is not automatically responsive to deletions made elsewhere

Start drilling down because Steam does not install to ~/Applications or ~/.wine Your top 3 folders are not used by Steam at all, and that’s around 1.6TB

I know what's in them... It was just an example with steam. The issue is that even if I move tens of GBs of files it usually doesn't free disk space at all to the point that I can't update system or downgrade. I suspect it might be something with memory allocation being bind to something but it persists even after restart. Also how many folders should there be in home/.snapshots on bazzite? Because I have 152.

open btrfs-assistant and check if the snapshot service somehow has been turned on (they are supposed to be off by default so users manually have to turn them on), turn it off and delete the snapshots

Thank you, I didn't know there was GUI app for this. For some reason "Enable timeline snapshots" and "Snapper timeline enabled" was on. After deleting all of them I freed more than 200GB.
