Pipe tool idea
Heyo! I have an idea for a new tool that you guys could easily include in Dash, which would be amazingly useful for, i imagine, lots of people.
A "make PIPE" tool that functions like this:
- you draw a curve on things (the classic drawn dash curve) like walls, edges of houses gutters etc. The logic to make it stick like a blender grease pencil is there, you guys have it already
- you can convert it to pipes with a tool similar to the curve scatter button:
- there's a straighten / simplify algorithm which simplifies the long relatively straight stretches of curve (measuring angle between sampling points); you can choose how much to do so, the angle threshold etc
- between straight stretches of spline and high-curvature ones you can spawn some pipe-joint rings, and in the straight stretches of pipe you can also to some distance-based division to put in pipe-joints
I think it makes use of a lot of the tech you already have built in Dash, and (to me at least, but i'm sure it will be for others as well) it would be really useful for industrial / cyber punk etc environments.
