Under 510 jeans didn't work out for me, what should I try next?
I saw tons of recommendations for Under510.com jeans for shorter guys, I'm a 33x27 and bought their Xavier jean in that size to test out. It feels like it's cut to sit REALLY low at the waist and is totally flat and straight through the seat, with a larger leg opening than appears on the fit models. Does anyone have any other recommendations for sub-30 inseam jeans that sit at the waist and taper nicely below the knee?

men will do anything except go to a tailor
yeah I'll have to keep trying to find a better tailor, I've gone to all of the ones in my town and they wanted something like $60 to hem and taper a pair of jeans and I figured I'd learn to do it myself at that point
Learn! It’s a useful skill and pretty easy
was just hoping there was one last shred of hope in the universe to find jeans that fit me off the shelf 🥲
Many of the denim shops will hem for you to desired length
Check out self edge they’re having a Black Friday sale this weekend

$60 for a hem & taper is completely reasonable jsyk
that's not on you, that's on the clothes themselves
there are some creative solutions (womens or kids sizes) but depending on your needs, getting a pair altered might be the best course of action
ah I heard from a couple of my friends in a diff city they were paying like half that or less so maybe they're just lucky
Im always an advocate for sewing and learning yourself. It’s a fun and saves you some money
Otherwise, $60 is fair and helps keep good tailors in business
You’re getting a perfect pair of pants and they’re getting fair compensation for a job well done everyone wins here
In that case I'll have to find some jeans worth tailoring, these under 510s kinda got that h&m quality vibe going on
I'm def gonna do this because they have a multi measurement jean finder tysm
Yeah I also agree with that under510 isn’t my first choice either
Awesome best of luck 🙂
Why do you need a taper? Can’t you just get a hem? They’re like $10-$20 at the tailor if you don’t get a taper
For the record I’m under 5’10 and I get my pants hemmed every time
I like a nice form fitting (not skinny) Jean and I've never found one that doesn't flop around at the ankle in my sizing
The under 510s are decent in the leg but the seat is totally flat
Can’t you buy a tapered jean and just hem it?
Never found any I like
There's like one basic ass mall near me and past that I've ordered and returned somewhere between dozens and a hundred of items online recently
Im just a picky bitch
you do not need to go to a specialty jeans store if you're under 5'10" that is wild.
just go to uniqlo they will hem for free
to elaborate on this a bit more unless the pants you're buying have the most jarring sudden taper i have ever seen, hemming even 3-4 inches off isn't going to drastically alter the fit.
Your jeans shouldn’t fit tight at the ankle
I think you should post photos in another thread of actual jeans you like and the ones you’ve tried so we can see what you mean.
Regardless I would never buy clothing specifically made for shorter people. That stuff is all just marketing designed to prey on people’s insecurities in order to sell them clothes that are more expensive and of worse quality.
Not to say 5’10 is not short
It’s above average for height in men
And there’s a reason brands even carry XS and S sizes
Yeah exactly lol the brand is just trying to generate an insecurity that’s not based in reality to sell you shitty clothes
The jeans on Under510 for example look awful. They’re 10% polyester and 2% Lycra, the washes look horrible, and I’m sure the fabric is thin.
Some of them are even 18% polyester!
And they’re way too skinny. See the way the fabric bunches up around the knee and the thighs. We can literally see the outline of this guy’s boxers!
Tbh I've just worn joggers forever because pants have always been such a hassle for me, I err a bit more on the streetwear side of things but that community is dead at best and sucks at its worst
You're totally right about them being thin and low quality, learned my lesson here and I'm gonna do some research into quality denim and just hem and do a slight taper or pay a good tailor ❤️
yeah and they don't even fit remotely like that, typical low quality brands lol
Just jumping in to say that tailoring jeans is not a beginner project for most alterations, denim is thick and faded indigo/flat felled seams/yoke-style backs with a one piece waistband are all details that make them challenging to alter (well). There's a reason denim and jeans tend to be more expensive to alter, and why people will go to specialty stores and tailors for it.
