Domain name pricing question
Hi, I found out that cloudflare is selling .fyi domain names for 5 bucks, so I decided to transfer my domain from namecheap. when I arrived at the transfer screen, it says I am expected to pay 15$ and I am not sure why that is.

The domain you're trying to transfer is marked as premium, hence it costs more
This is usually for short domains and domains that are also words (think of something like pizza.com). These are costs imposed by the registry, the organisation that manages the .fyi TLD, which are then passed on to you when you buy the domain through Cloudflare
the heck
why 😿
i was planning on saving 15 dollars going from 20$ -> 5$ now I am going to save only 5 bucks
@zegevlier one more question: if I let the domain expire from namecheap, will it be available to buy afterwards from cloudflare at the cheaper rate?
Usually not, if a domain is premium it usually stays premium even if you let it expire
