Constant stuttering in Games

After a month, I decided to play Grand Theft Auto V (Steam, Bazzite-Deck Image) and as soon as I loaded the game, I was getting max 14-15 fps with GPU (RX 6600XT) at 99% When entering game menu, it goes up to my monitors refresh rate and is very smooth. I didn't have this issue on Bazzite in October Also, I noticed that after a while, Rocket League (added to Steam through Heroic) also caps at 25 fps (should be above 300fps) What causes these issues and how can I fix them? Bazzie-Deck 41 stable (up to date) 5600g, rx 6600xt, 16gb ram Freesync enabled, frame rate limit 165hz, no hdr
Solution:
I guess I could try deleting proton files and see if that helps

start the game then CTRL+ALT+F4 and run this
cat $(find /sys/class/hwmon/*/ -name "power1_cap_default")
cat $(find /sys/class/hwmon/*/ -name "power1_cap")
cat $(find /sys/class/hwmon/*/ -name "power1_cap_default")
cat $(find /sys/class/hwmon/*/ -name "power1_cap")
both numbers should be identical

i know, i just wanted to check since the description you provided is similar to what happens is steam manages to force dedicated gpus to 30W which is one of the earliest things i helped fix here and its the first thing i check each time someone has issues like this. another thing i would suggest is to try uninstall lact if you have it installed

no, never used/installed it

ok i own gta on steam so i guess i can fire it up and check if i can reproduce as i got the same gpu dont have the same cpu though what is your resolution? @Chris at least for GRA i could replicate the issue (but at 30fps) put the game into windowed mode then back to fullscreen and it magically fixed it (vsync was also originally on "half" so i switched that on or off first before changing display mode)

then i dont really know 🤔 here is what i did * boot gta5 * try change textures as it was set to very high so i set it to high * restarted gta5 (forced by setting change) * change vync as i noticed it was on half * change display modes * it now worked * changed display mode back to fullscreen and it still worked * ?????

Sadly none of these worked for me. Whats funny is that when I opened the Steam menu (PS Button), the game completely froze and I had to force shutting it down Now after launching it I just see a black screen lol

Clean launch fixed the problem, @HikariKnight thank you for helping! Still have to check what causes the issue in rocket league

no idea about rocket league sadly

@HikariKnight I tried playing multiple other games (NFS Most Wanted 2012, NFS Hot Pursuit Remastered) and they all seem to be affected by the same issue. FPS is capped to about 15fps or even 6fps in Most Wanted and nothing I tried seems to help. GPU is at 99% but draws only 50W

i cant replicate that myself on any of my games, although i dont own the same games

And again in menus the frame rate is fine, only while in the "world" it stutters It must be sth on my system then

Trying more games and they all have the issue What should I do in this case? Tested the same games in Desktop mode and they all work fine. There is something wrong in Gaming Mode then.

try launch them with SteamDeck=0 %command% as the launch option should disable "steamdeck" configs for most games launched like this

That didnt help. I tried some other non steam games (Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Chase) and they seem to work as usual. It only seems to affect Steam games in Gaming mode (however in Desktop mode performance is still lower than it used to be. Could it be caused by the 3rd larty launchers?

U probably need to install Lact and downclock ur GPU to 2044mhz. I have the same GPU. I think running at default speed (overclocked by AMD genius ) at 2600mhz cause the stability issue.

But what changed? It worked just fine before the latest updates and only affects Steam games

and i have the same gpu and do not need to do that 🤔

Maybe the iGPU is causing it? I remember having this problem once on Fedora but it was a long time ago

oh right i vaguely remember reading about some motherboards for the newer cpus than mine causing stuttering if the igpu was enabled while having a dgpu
