I took a look at their website and I don't see why you'd buy these over something you can try on at a store.

Like? There's nothing near me like this besides H&M Meant to specify their shirts

Jcrew, Abercrombie, Uniqlo, h&m, Zara - pretty much anything you'd find in a mall.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I don't like any of those stores

mattw24w ago
They all sell cheap plain shirts like these and you'll be able to try them on to see if they fit. What don't you like about them?
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Plus, h&m and Uniqlo are really horrible quality The quality
mattw2
mattw24w ago
There is no reason to believe these shirts will be any better quality at the price they're selling them. What are your quality issues?

H&m is extremely thin and tears easily and is filled with microplastics. Like, the entire shirt is just plastic cotton. I don't like the way they feel. J. Crew is too fashiony for me. I've had clothes fall apart really quickly And I take care of my stuff My coworker likes Wyrwear and he likes stuff that's a little more premium

if your coworker has some and likes it then ask to have look at one maybe? But there isn't any reason to believe these are going to be any better in any way than conventional brands that sell at a similar price point. they have clever marketing copy - but at the end of the day it's just a cheap cotton shirt
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I guess
carrion

not to pile on, but it's 100% marketing. They're inexpensive and you know someone who likes them, so just try them out. But any clothes at such a low price point are taking shortcuts somewhere in the process, which is expected and fine, but don't believe the ad copy that everything is done in a way that's somehow better than other sellers at the same price point.

I’m generally not a fan of tshirts that aren’t 100% cotton. Wyrwear has 5% Lycra and that’s automatically a deal breaker for me As carrion said, due to price point this brand really is in the same space as Uniqlo h&m and so on
carrion
carrion4w ago
hilarious that they market as "plastic free" while using 5% lycra Anyway a good learning moment.

What part of JCrew makes them feel too fashiony too you? Their whole thing is being pretty accessible.

I never said they'd be better! I just wanted to see if anyone had experiences with their shirts is all. I guess it's just the name Plus, I haven't had much success with anything fitting Even the shirts Wyr seems a little more form fitting I don't like that flowy feeling too much It's fine a little but I definitely don't want to be able to move the shirt around while "twisting" if that makes sense Hmm if it's marketing then all those other brands like h&m and j.crew are no different
carrion
carrion4w ago
correct
mattw2
mattw24w ago
Yeah, they kinda aren't - they make vaguely different things, and might fit you different but fundamentally they're all making clothes at similar prices (and chasing similar profit margins) so they're gonna wind up very similar. They do this with plastic.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Not always That's the cheap way
mattw2
mattw24w ago
Everything I've looked at on wyrwears website has 5% lycra. Lycra is plastic.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
All those other brands are notorious for being 100% plastic and awful for the environment
mattw2
mattw24w ago
Yes, most of them are terrible for the environment. Many of them sell 100% cotton clothes. They definitely use very similar fabric mills and factories to this brand (which might actually be worse because they're lower volume and still cheap).
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Hmm Idk then
mattw2
mattw24w ago
You cannot buy clothes this cheap that are good for the environment. You can be better by buying second hand or keeping the cheap stuff you buy in use for as long as possible. But if you need clothes and this is what you can afford you shouldn't feel bad for buying stuff you can afford. Just be aware of it and don't get tricked into the buying loads of new clothes all the time trap that fast fashion want you to fall into.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I should have also mentioned that 90% of my clothes were ruined in the wash because someone decided to leave bright marker in there I'd go for a more expensive shirt like ash and Eirie but those don't fit at all
Garet
Garet4w ago
Take a shit that you like the measurements from and compare to better brands online
mattw2
mattw24w ago
It honestly sounds like the best thing you could do is go try on a load of stuff at the mall and buy what fits best. Or what @Garet said.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I'm pretty familiar with how things fit from the mall The stuff that fits the best is also the worst in terms of quality. For me anyway
carrion
carrion4w ago
measure shirts you like the fit of and compare them to other brands. you're either going to need to increase your budget or lower your standards tho.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I can definitely increase it's just all the pricier shirts I have tried are just way too flowy or boxy It's worth mentioning the J.Crew near me doesn't carry much They don't have any solid tees I'd have to order them I guess I could sacrifice the standard but I can't get myself to shop at those places
carrion
carrion4w ago
then just buy these shirts? lmao? They're fine, they're literally the same as uniqlo or jcrew or h&m. The only thing I've said is to not buy into ad copy because that's all this brand is.
raisinpie
raisinpie4w ago
according to your standards, wyrwear is worse. You said you wanted natural fibers, not plastic. All the brands recommended to you do 100% cotton shirts, while wyrwear does not.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Oh is it? I'm fine with having some in there but those other brands are 100% plastic fibers
raisinpie
raisinpie4w ago
theyre literally not
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Which ones are not? H&M definitely is lol Even if not it's still extremely horrible fabric
carrion
carrion4w ago
like?
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Fine Guess I won't go with wyr lol I've had many shirts from H&m and they just fall apart super quick They aren't meant to last very long at all Even the 100% cotton ones I'll try Uniqlo again but since it's Japanese sizing it's kinda difficult even though I've followed my measurements
carrion
carrion4w ago
they have US sizing. I'm 6'1" with a 47in chest and I fit comfortably in their tees.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
I'm not tall at all and most small shirts fit but these were like a kids shirt in a small or medium Maybe I did something wrong
mattw2
mattw24w ago
Your clothing size is only very loosely related to height, and you should always buy the size that fits you best rather than following tag size because that's what you normally wear. This is why going in person can be so helpful. That said, some brands just aren't cut for some people. There's plenty of choice and alternatives though. (I'm 6'2 and often wear a small, but also own stuff in M and L, I have a 36" chest, my Uniqlo t-shirts are size small)
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Wait how can you be 6'2 and fit into a small? I don't mean to rag but that doesn't make sense
mattw2
mattw24w ago
Because I have a small chest, shoulder and waist measurement. If you look at sizing charts increased sizes don't make clothes all that much longer that quickly. They generally get wider much more quickly.
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Ah I'm actually pretty skinny which makes this harder than it needs to be
mattw2
mattw24w ago
I'm also pretty/very skinny, that's how you fit in a small at 6'2!
FreakGravel
FreakGravelOP4w ago
Makes sense! I kinda look like I'm anorexic tho even though I'm not. I just have weird genes
