Looking for skirts that fit large
Musts:
At least a 36 inch waist
Somewhere between midi and maxi length
Natural fibres eg. Cotton or linen, bamboo derivatives are fine.
Preferably:
Thick material with either structure or drape
One colour, preferably dark. Pattern or texture is okay as long as it doesn't look 'statement'y
Open to broader brand recommendations and/or fast fashion although I live in Australia so most fast fashion is not worth it. Most of my shopping is done on yahoo jp, but there doesnt really exist womenswear in my size there.

Do you know what sort of silhouette you want?
Are you thinking of more of a pencil skirt (this is one from Thom Browne)
Or an A-line (here I am wearing one from Rick Owens)
Perhaps you would like a denim skirt. Not sure if Levi's is accessible in Australia but they make some classic ones. Denim skirts are cotton and pretty rigidly structured.
J. Crew also makes nice classic skirts. Stuff like this: https://www.jcrew.com/m/womens/categories/clothing/gwyneth-pleated-slip-skirt/MP149?display=standard&fit=Classic&color_name=silver-grey&colorProductCode=BN757.
And I know for a fact that both of them make sizes that would fit a 36 waist or bigger.
not a pencil skirt, a line is good. levi's is a good call.
A proxy order from the US might be my best bet.
Yeah the Levi's denim skirts are classic. Nice and rugged.
Curious, what would you like to wear it with?
cropped mens jackets and/or drapier top halfs like your rick example
Very cool
shinya kozuka and undercover both have styling that aligns with what I want
Is TRR a thing in Australia haha?
If you search for Comme des Garcons skirts on there you'll see a lot of options. But I'm not sure about sizing.
feel free to post pics if you have them
yeah they do ship to australia but the shipping is quite high, and combined with their unreliable measurements its always sketched me out enough to not bother. I assume womens cdg wouldn't have the sizes I want but cdgh might have stuff?
good example of the sort of sillhouettes I'm targeting,
Yeah that's fucking sick.
I don't know about the sizing. I have a 28 waist and a women's comme skirt that fits me fine that was tagged on TRR as XS lol. So I wouldn't be surprised if the larger sizes could accommodate a 36, which isn't much bigger. I'd just go off measurements if I was buying a skirt like that.
Yeah comme des garcons homme makes really cool maxi skirts, I'd look into those. But they're super expensive new lol.
Also I'd look into sacai!
i think sacai is likely way outside of my budget
Yeah but if you're buying it used it gets a lot cheaper.
good call stylewise though - I do enjoy sacai as a brand a lot
Someone just posted a sacai maxi skirt they were thinking of buying on here for like $100 on TRR.
Honestly though.
You can buy a pleated black maxi skirt from basically any brand and it'll probably be a nice start.
absolutely

Check out prospective flow, they have really fun silhouettes. I have a pair of pants from them I've worn into the ground over 5 years, their construction is top notch
sickkk
Wrap skirts are actually a great recommendation because they're really forgiving re: sizing.
There's someone who used to be on here who I know would have great recommendations in this vein but they haven't been active in like a year sadly.
I absolutely love pleated skirts and hakama pants
Probably one of my favourite looks
They just look so damn fun to move around in
I used to attend the renaissance festival and wore a kilt when I did, extremely comfortable
Damn, that's pretty sick
Honestly the only thing I've seen from thom browne that I've liked ha ha, I'm really not a fan of his suiting. I much prefer OG Giorgio Armani
Drape is king
Who was the actor that wore a long dress/tux to the red carpet?
Here it is. Always liked this fit
He's famous for his skirt suits where the bottoms are like this.
in addition to the classic shrunken suit which is what I own
I plan to add on a skirt in the same fabric sometime this year though.
Ah okay, I just haven't seen enough of his work then
Skirt suit would go pretty hard
Yeah he's the king of them
from his last collection which was edgar allen poe themed
UGH this is so good
love this
thom browne's suiting goes so naturally with skirts
Yeah it's amazing
