Help finding a similar sweater:
Hey all! I was browsing Temu, as one does, and stumbled upon this sweater I really dig the idea of. I like the shape of the neck (the front opening specifically, not necessarily a fan of the ribbed collar), the color, the maximalist knitted embellishments all over, and the leather patches and highlights. It's got a sort of preppy/cozy vibe that really fits my personal style (my best friend teases me about being very "Dark Academia"). I would really love owning something like this!
But not this, seeing as it's cheap Chinese 100% Polyester crap. No, I don't actually buy clothes on Temu.
I know this is kind of a long shot, but would anyone have any ideas of where/how I might find something like this? I'd have a budget of around, say, €60, living in Ireland (I considered Aran Sweaters, but very little in my price range, and nothing in this exact vibe, with the collar especially... I do absolutely want a really good one down the line though). I'm not opposed to second hand, but I wouldn't even know where to begin looking, or any of the keywords I'd need to use, all my second hand shopping has been in-person thrifting.
From belt to shoulder I'm about 55cm, 96cm around the bust. I typically comfortably fit in Small everything for men (and some Large stuff here and there for women).
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It looks photoshopped, but if you arent dead set on the leather patches there definitely vintage jumpers like this
I mean, I like the leather patches, but I'm not married to them for sure.
Youre looking for like, cable knit for the actual pattern
And yeah pretty sure it's photoshopped a fair bit. Probably just the color, but it's another reason not to buy on those sites.
And probably second hand for a pure wool one (not a bad thing)
So, I've never really shopped second hand online, which I assume would be the way to go since hunting for something like this in thrift stores would probably be a fruitless search.
Vinted and eBay I think are the big sites, right?
Any keywords I should try? Cable knit, I suppose, but what would the shape of that front collar be?
The tricky thing is most wool cable knits worth buying will not have the patches or that collar, just a regular crewneck or vneck
In Ireland Vinted is probably better for sure
Ive definitely seen that sort of collar a bit, was looking myself
Dang, the collar is what really attracts me. It's a bit... Disheveled, I guess, but still in a preppy sort of way?
Not sure how else to describe it.
Anyway, I'll check out Vinted
rumpled
I guess, yes
I'm not beating the "Dark Academia" allegations
The friend I mentioned above says I dress like a TA on his way to becoming an eccentric History professor.
BTW, what would the "proper" term for the shape of the collar be?
Polo collar? Maybe?
Quarter button collar
Less common cousin of the quarter zip
Oh. Duh. I should have figured lol.
Thanks!
Ive seen them listed as cardigans by people so cast a wide net!
I might as well have kept polo in there lol, just about everything appears to be from Ralph Lauren
Polo stuff doesnt tend to have that same chunky sort of knit
(and when it does its $$$)
Man and here I thought it'd be easy to find lol. Naively I assumed "Well if Temu's got it it must be a copy of something marginally popular" lol
The thing is that temi thing is an amalgamation of two fairly distinct sljumpers
Vinted is where I'd go, assuming Ireland is connected with enough other countries. I've seen aran sweaters with that sorta quarter-button collar selling new for like eur120, which means that on vinted you should find it for about half that. And aran sweaters are pretty common on vinted. I'd search by brand - all the standard online aran sweater makers. It's an unusual collar so it might take a bit to come up, but I also wouldn't expect to be waiting forever. Doubt you'll find anything with those leather patches though - I'm not even sure how you'd attach leather to to a cable knit sweater outside photoshop.
Okay so this really isn't what I had in mind color-wise but I still like this lol
Ooh I should search the Aran keyword too
Like, basically you're hoping to find this on vinted: https://www.aran.com/buttoned-m-erino-wool-sweater
Aran Sweater Market
Buttoned Merino Wool Sweater
This Cable Knit Sweater for men is casual, yet fashionable, this is design is a true multi-tasker. Get 10% OFF your 1st order from the home of Aran.
Oh yeah that'd be the general vibe
Funny, the one place I've found something like this in so far has been, of all shops, Macy's 🤷♂️
Of course, theirs is Acryllic, and they only have XXL left lol
Maybe not.
Anyway, I think I've got enough to begin my search. Thanks all!

not sure if uk places ship to you but, not bad for a tenner!
Tommy Hilfiger jumper
Size small
Would fit size 8
Oh wow yeah that's pretty good. I do have a friend in Northern Ireland I could ship it to
I just searched in chunky knit jumpers for marerial: wool, size: small, and cream/white/beige colour and a bunch of stuff came up, scroll till you find a collar you like and check the tags
That one is like 78% wool which aint bad
Shows what I know I didn't even realize there were tags lol
Im a fiend for Vinted haha
I can see that lol
I mean I've definitely been seeing some amazing prices on here
Like, that sweater I posted above? Cotton from Zara isn't awesome, but for €2.00...
Yeah the resale priceon certain things is way lower than you'd think. Most high street/fast fashion stuff costs buttons
Reuse, recycle, rat vibes 🐭
Id personally spend the money for something more decent but you'll still find a lot under 40 euros Id reckon for what you're after
Obviously I want to have some really good pieces, but I'm also pretty broke lol. There's a reason my entire wardrobe is thrifted 😭
Shelling out 60€ for a sweater is enough to make me tense up, even though I know it's objectively a good idea to invest in quality.
Still, the Tommy sweater looks nice, I might catch that, the cheap Zara one, and if I find other stuff I'll keep my mind open.
Its sweater season 😌
It's funny, EU Vinted is entirely dominated by the French lol
I've literally yet to see a single post in English
I think it depends on where you live, for me it's dominated by the Polish
I think the UK is seperated because of Brexit. I never see anything from further away than Northern Ireland
Vinted is split into semi-ovetlapping shipping regions. Germany used to be on its own, but just a few weeks ago got merged with Italy and Austria. Huge news for me. But Italy is also merged with France and Benelux, which I think aren't available in Germany.
My pal in Spain says its an absolute wasteland
