Brand Identity Shifts - Topic of the day 11/23/24

Which clothing brands have had their style and brand image shift over time? Which have had their core identities stay stagnant? For example, Abercrombie went from catering towards teenage surfers to catering towards prep menswear fans. Conversely, Uniqlo has stayed true to minimalism.

not sure if it's the beand identity or its perception changing but acne studios comes to mind mid 2010s it was lumped in with other basic bastard/scandi minimalist brands and yet now it is maximalist and borderline unhinged (positive) also funny to see how much banana republic wants to embrace being inspired by rich white people going on safari vs office basics from season to season

I think Jan Jan Van Essche has changed a lot over the years. Early works had a lot of raw details, pit vents, slimmer “artisanal” style cuts, etc. Those have entirely been abandoned in favour of more clean lines, drapey stuff, etc.
