Thoughts on Neppy garments
So I just discovered that those funky speckled jeans are that way because of the "nep", and like a kid after the discovery of chocolate I'm way excited. I wanna get some style opinions on this texture, but to give the post some structure I've formulated some questions:
1. Any cool neppy pieces you like? Still being on the cheaper side of fashion, I'll probably find recommendations under $150 more useful, but I'm also curious what's out there.
2. Tying into the above, I'm curious what peoples thoughts are on how to wear this kind of texture. What kinda pieces or styles do you think work well here? Anything you think one should know or keep in mind?
3. And to tip my hand on where my imagination is at right now, does anyone know some neppy high-waisted boot cut jeans (or pants) for under $150ish?

The best in the game imo is the oni crushed concrete
Above budget but the denim is excellent quality and imo looks the best, definitely worth the money

ONI's coveted Secret Denim is the 20oz denim that earned the small Japanese label a cult following. A truly unparalleled fabric, the denim is known for its intense three-dimensional texture and is crafted using extra thick yarn. This installment revamps the original Secret Denim through a deep indigo dye that yields a dark blue color and a consi...
Yeah, Oni is great and neppy. Orslow's denim is pretty neppy too. You can find some cool neppy Naked & Famous denim within your budget but tbh their cuts are kind of awful -- the True Guy and Strong Guy are okay but not necessarily a cowboy cut.
I think with your budget the best bet is to look for a second hand or on-sale pair of Oni.
imo ultra neppy jeans are hard to wear because the texture is usually rally loud compared to the rest of the outfit. I think "natural" nep is fine but the n&f, for example, tend to look to me like there is abunch of lint on the pants. I think the oni's can be pulled off but I just feel like its a bit more of a high skill activity than I'm looking for with jeans
Textured jeans are a favorite over on /r/rawdenim. The absolute king are the oni crushed concrete, which are just the most unique pair of jeans and so comfy. They retail for more than your price range, but I proxied mine from Japan on zenmarket for around $150.
These are 100℅ casual, I haven't been able to wear them with anything but a pair of sneakers and like, a sweatshirt. Like Scott said they can be hard to wear in that they're very loud and draw attention to them, from far they look like they're covered in lint but closer up the texture pops.
You can look around for N&F Lord of Nep if you want to get excessive with it. Adjacent to the nep look are wool tweeds.
Japan Blue also used to do Jazz Nep
Thing with super neppy denim is if you actually wear and wash them it’ll eventually kind of fade and blend in
But it’ll still have a slight variation in color and texture. Just will be something only you can see and know. But that’s denim, always changing and pretty dope.
