Recommendations for a plain hoodie?
Hey folks! For Christmas this year, I'd like to get my husband a plain hoodie (probably black). I plan to do some special embroidery on it, so I'd rather there not be any obvious logos or anything on the exterior. Since it's a custom project that is going to eat up some time, I'd like to find him something well made that will last a good while before starting to look rough.
He's a broad shouldered, athletic guy that fits well in a typical medium, and for something like this, I think he'd like it to be a little on the roomy side. We're also in the pacific northwest, so winter can get pretty chilly. He's been wanting something for his early morning runs, so warmer would be better.
I've looked at some threads on this topic, but some of the recommendations that have most interested me I also read have declined in quality since said discussion has happened (particularly the Flint and Tinder 10-year hoodie, and the Champion reverse weave,) so it seemed smart to get more current advice.
I'd like to keep the cost under $100, but I'm willing to go higher for the right item. Definitely not a penny over $200 though.
Thank you so much in advance π

Like you mentioned, Champion Reverse weave, lady white co (if you can find it on sale), house of blanks (same distributor supreme uses for their hoodies), and also nanamica (again if you find it on heavy sale)
Reigning champ is another one that just popped into my head too
I did hear Supreme was good, but I didn't want the logo. I didn't even think to look for their distributor. π―
I'm a champion reverse weave defender
its some of the best bang for ur buck shit out there tbh
super cozy and affordable
yeah I've got three
I still have a blank of this pulled up, so defend away!
the price is great, and it would sure simplify my search lol
I would at least give that one a go tbh, then you can get him two π
also love the feel of the Lady White Co ones in hand if you want something a lil pricier
ah but those are over 200
ssense sale do be happening rn
Ha ha ha true. I left him an "I love you" note on a pile of folded laundry one morning (I'm a night owl and he's an early bird), and we've been passing it back and forth all year. My plan is to transfer the note onto the sleeve in embroidery in a color that matches, for a nice subtle effect. I could always get two, embroider one, and give him both lol
What's the feel like on the Lady White Co? Just really soft? Does that maintain after a few washes?
also, I just clocked your username. A+ hahaha
The YZY Gap zip up hoodie at la archives is pretty good value, it's double layered for warmth and has a broad chest, tapered waist silhouette
nahhhhhhh
yzy in 2024 :kennyno:
Heavy weighted feel, really soft to the touch, fades well
lady white is just really good in general for more expensive essentials
good stitching too
i owned a evan kinori collab hoodie for a bit and man it was like a weighted blanket
Mosh, if I went with something from House of Blanks, would the standard pullover hoodie be the way to go? Or would I be better off with the relaxed fit?
My friend owns 4 of them and he goes for the standard fit, they run slimmer, but thats the type of fit he wants
id say if you want that baggier, looser fit go for relaxed
let me actually ask him brb
@wekkins
there you go i was completely wrong haha, glad i asked
Okay, so relaxed fit and size up on that one, potentially?
yeah, seems that its reccomended to size up on both fits, relaxed and standard
either way you got some good leads now
im hoping you post the embroidery after into #DIY , would love to see it
Yeah, I'll stick around to do that!
So I've got the reverse weave, the relaxed fit from House of Blanks, and I'm keeping the Lady White Co one in mind for now. They don't have his size, but if they do something for Black Friday and have it then, I might make the plunge. I love supporting US made when I can.
Last question π
I was watching a short review on the Lady White Co one, to see it on a regular dude, and he mentioned the Trumbull hoodie as being really cozy. Not sure if that's what I need, but I do think Husband would like it. Anyone here have experience with it?

these all look solid. Added to my tab group for further investigating. Thanks!
is reigning champ still good?
from what ive read yes, but some people don't like that once they got bought by aritizia they moved some production overseas (which is kinda weird since i assumed their CYC factory was the reason for buying them)
oh i didn't realize they got bought out by aritzia
Alright, Hoodie Pt. 2 electric boogaloo: after some probing, something lighter weight might be better. :tommy: Sorry folks. Any suggestions for that?

No
Also no
Honestly check Uniqlo, I know it's kind of a meme but they have some lighter weight hoodies
OP already got the answers they need tbh
don't need these dogshit non-full cotton hoodies
don't know why you felt the urge to chime in tbh
I think relative to all the other earlier suggestions the champion reverse weave is pretty lightweight
Buuuut if he's wanting something more lightweight Gap makes a zip hoodie that is very comfortable (I'm wearing one right now) https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=414188082&vid=1&tid=gppl000066&kwid=1&ap=7&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiArva5BhBiEiwA-oTnXdu6MQ4JXl1aaPPi-gONbzkGlB3Qk3fJOdrp5jZS2-krFBDw-Rm7ERoCanQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
I really like the Reigning Champ midweight hoodies. They also make lightweight hoodies but I've no experience with them. Be sure to buy their made in Canada versions instead of ones from Vietnam. Eg: https://reigningchamp.com/products/lightweight-terry-full-zip-hoodie-navy
Reigning Champ
Lightweight Terry Slim Zip Hoodie | Reigning Champ
This versatile zip hoodie is made in Canada from Lightweight Terry, a Pima cotton fabric developed for mild climates and precise layering. Features signature set-in/raglan sleeves, durable flatlocked seams and a tonal drawcord.
Why not house of blanks
If the answers are almost the same for lightweight or something really warm, then I guess that simplifies things π
most of these brands offer multiple weights
did you even check?
