Hey! 20 years old in college and need help getting started with finding and understanding clothes.
I’ve always hated I haven’t had a clue about fashion. I just wear what I got in my closet. I don’t necessarily want to stand out, but I want to look good; to know what I am doing. And spending money on something I feel so unsure about has held me back. I need help figuring out where to even start.

look in #waywt and see if there's anything you like
try looking on pinterest for fashion styles
So the place to start is with fashion styles?
I want to know how to buy clothes that make me look good. Compliment me. Fit me well. I don’t need to make a statement. I also don’t want to spend a heck of a lot of money
So rather than thinking about stores and where to buy things, I should start with fashion styles?
a good place to start is to do what art suggested, have a look in waywt and see if there is something you like and think you would like to wear
you can post pictures from there into this thread and people can help you based on those pictures
Having the confidence to know what I think I’d like to wear is difficult. Cause I don’t know what works. I just don’t have an eye for that sadly
This is why looking at things you'd like to emulate is useful.
respectfully you do, I can't believe you aren't able to look at pictures of other people on this server and not think "that looks cool" or "I don't want to wear that"
You’re right, I can haha
Don't know if you saw the guides channel but some of the stuff here might help you find where to get started, or start thinking about things https://discord.com/channels/1116793467654381685/1294052690204295289/1294192176527310899
the best reason to start with finding what you think looks cool" is that the question of "how to get it right" will depend on what you prefer
the logistics of what to buy, where and how to shop, etc. are a lot easier when you know what you want to look like. otherwise you risk wasting money on stuff you don't like
There are a lot of ways that clothes can fit and still compliment you, so making that choice is a statement in itself. Fashion statements do not to be wild or anything, it can be simple as well. Just see what you like and don’t like and try to be analytical of why
