What is something in your closet or in fashion that took you a while to appreciate? What was the initial resistance and how did you overcome it?

I'm not sure if I have a specific garment in mind but honestly green pants lol. Swapped out needles fatigues for bdu pants and suddenly I could see how I could incorporate green pants as apart of my vision
More or less just increasingly learning what elements I value within individual garments and how they add up to greater than the sum in a fit
Like I really like to incorporate colors but I don't pull off loud colors well and just tend to have subtle splashes through bags and plushies
My dressier trousers but wearing them for just regular office days. My initial resistance was not wanting to change from what I was used to (jeans and the occasional chino). But I’ve been getting more into it, and even for non office days (because why not?) though now apparently trousers are out and jeans are in
my OrSlow fatigues. My initial resistance was that I only saw people in the slim fit OrSlow fatigues and bad fits. Then I tried the regular fit fatigues in bad fits and I fell in love
Certain things I don't wear often only click after finding the right things to pair them with, and then they get a ton of play. It might be the color, proportions, or overall vibe but you know it when you see it. A good example of this are my cowboy boots, which needed a specific cut and vibe of pant to work well.
Usually I'll sell something off before finding a companion piece, but those rare opportunities to make a combo work are so nice!
