Spier & Mackay Red Label vs. Core Suit
Hello, looking to buy my first suit, and I’m wondering if it’s worth spending an extra ~$100 on their Core suit. I won’t need to wear it more than 5 times a year. The only differences I could see from their descriptions was that the core suit has Australian wool, super 110s, and Bemberg lining. Also, there is a Red Label suit on final sale for $175 - would it be crazy to get that? I can afford any of these options, just want to get a feel if it would be worth it for how much I would wear it. Thanks!
For reference, this is the core suit ($390) at checkout): https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/navy-suit-8799
Red Label ($280 at checkout): https://www.spierandmackay.com/product/navy-suit-9697-ns01-9705-nt01-mx

Tbh, I’d probably gun for the red label and put the extra hundred towards shoes.
Most of Spier’s stuff excels when it a) doesn’t include pants; and b) is focused on the detailing.
At the margin, I don’t think that the core suit is really all that much better than the red label, unless you care about fabric weight / mill, pocket shapes, lapel widths, etc.
For a basic 2 button tho? May as well get your all-rounder at a good price.
