valorant slows my pc down extremely upon launch until i close it

valorant slows my pc down upon launching and while the program is up. it was working fine for me up until recently where it just slows my pc down extremely. (ive even tried redownloading the game and tried both hdd and SSD which hasn't helped, and i can play and do anything else just fine EXCEPT valorant)

it’s literally not the pc though literally the day before my issue occurred everything was working fine, then all of a sudden it causes my pc to MASSIVELY drop in frames task manager doesn’t display anything out of the ordinary I’ve redownloaded the game and it still doesn’t help like it makes no sense 😭

I’m curious if you only lose frames ingame. cause for me my ENTIRE pc slows down when I launch valorant, but playing anything else like cs2 and dbd works fine

Nah I don’t lose any fps, I run it constantly at 400, in order for me to play the game I gotta restart my whole pc

I saw multiple people complain about similar problems, so it might the the game, these problems started recently too, before I had no problems

yeah im not really sure, havent experienced it dont know what it looks like and i certainly have never heared about not being able to move or anything then ur pc softlocking maybe run a riotlog and send it to support and ask for some help if you have fully uninstalled it from your pc withiout a doubt and reinstaled it and it's still happening im pretty sure it's something to do with your pc because the game doesnt do that every so often -- or even when it just feels like it if you get what i mean maybe keyboard drivers are ruined if you can still move your mouse and valorant might just be screwing that up even more

How u upgrade keyboard drivers..?
imphensive
imphensive2mo ago
you dont, really "upgrade" if there is something wrong with them you can tell, and you can reinstall them but pretty much plugging it in and out you can run a troubleshoot Click the Windows Start menu and type “device manager.” ... Click Keyboards and choose which keyboards need to be reset. Press X at the top to uninstall the device. Choose Scan for hardware changes. Select your keyboard and click the Update device driver.

some applications also automatically update them I know some antiviruses supply the tool to do it Malwarebytes does, Avast does not sure if they're free though, but you can use a free subscription if im not mistaken just make sure you get the right one many companies pretend to be anti viruses >> to inject malware into your pc. but for the sake of it, just do it the device manager way. Right-click on Start and select Device Manager Expand Keyboards Right-click on the affected keyboard and select Update driver Select Search automatically for updated driver software you can also just do this ^

it’s such a strange issue but you are right problems like these don’t really just occur out of the blue for no reason, im probably gonna try to redownload it again maybe I didn’t do it fully last time, and also check for any loose cables cause I do use an external SSD
imphensive
imphensive2mo ago
and if this doesnt help, unfortunatey i dont know i dont think external should matter aslong as it's an SSD. use an uninstaller application to ensure it's fully off your pc before you do this I.e. ReVo uninstaller

such as natural corruption but by usual, if you do just reinstal it, it should replace those files, but it's always better to be safe also, sorry for the ping but, make sure you dont uninstall anything neccessary when you are uninstaling it uninstalls important files if you ask it to. (i almost deleted loads of my files because i pressed "select all" instead of the files i wanted to delete 😭 files linked with valorant should be highlighted

Find the game you want to uninstall, right click and press uninstall.

it should load a page where it asks you how far you want it to scan make sure it scans moderate, you dont need to do a full scan (takes forever) then a explorer will open and show you the origin of all of the files, select the highlighted ones ( the files containing the name riot, valorant, vanguard etc.) then press uninstall and it should remove all traces of valorant & the game itself
