gx52 - utility for USB hotas - needs more permissions than flatpak provides

I have an X52 Pro HOTAS, which works just fine with e.g. Elite:Dangerous via Lutris. However, I'd like to set the various LED lights to specific colours, and from what I can see a good way to do that would be to use gx52 froim Flathub. Sadly this doesn't have the permissions it needs to write to the device, and according to the upstream project I should use udev to change permissions on the devices as they're made (https://gitlab.com/leinardi/gx52#adding-udev-rule). But! /lib/udev/ is read-only of course, so I'm interested in knowing the correct Fedora Atomic-friendly way of enabling this permission. I know I can remount -rw, but perhaps there's a better way to get this working?
